Installed this in my 1999 Miata Base. This radiator fits several years and versions and each may require minor fitment mods. For my left hand drive ‘99: - When removing stock unit, remember there is a mid-bottom bracket that you can’t easily see. Remove completely. Discard. - Before installation ensure your fans will line up on the new unit. - Either remove or tie back upper hose for room to work. -Then, place the new radiator without the fans. (Yes, some people installed the complete assembly all at once, but trust me, it’s much more effective to install fans after the radiator is in car.) - Install passenger side fan first, hand tightening the four bolts to allow movement for positioning before final tightening with wrench. Tighten top bolts first. - Driver’s side fan placement is impeded by A/C lines on bottom outside side. Do not bend or modify your A/C lines thereby risking damage or leaks. Instead, cut the fan housing with a Dremel or similar tool. Remove one inch wide by two inch high section of housing. The A/C lines will not be hit by fan blades. Install the fan with the two upper bolts (there are no lower bolts on the driver’s side fan). Overall, it’s a tight fit. I don’t have numbers, but I know the operating temperature is now a bit lower. The car’s temperature gauge previously stood just above halfway mark when hot. Now it’s just below half.

Very wrong thing to do with brake discs. do not repeat after the author. The petal disc does not remove some of the metal evenly, thereby the brake pads do not fit correctly and this can lead to incorrect wear and braking. The most you can use is sandpaper or a coral sanding disc. But without effort.

If you just want a quick and simple solution, this worked great! If you want to go pretty legit and proper, then yes you can professionally get your rotors cut or just get new rotors Ofcourse! Super excited to watch the build and learn/follow along with you! Bought my ES1 four months ago and absolutely fell in love with the way it drove and felt and looked. Unfortunately some shenanigans went down, and the timing belt tensioner we put in when we bought it failed and we bent the valves. Bought what we thought was a D17A1 head assembly after verifying pistons were okay but the yard had it marked wrong so we ended up buying a D17A2 head assembly. We took the cam assembly out of the old head and threw it into the (new) one to bypass the vtec in the engine since the car doesn't have a module for it. Its been running for about a month now but around 1500-1700rpm under load it can't seem to hold a steady rpm and bounces around the range, and instead of trying to fix that I'm just going to swap it for something much more fun. Will definitely be taking notes! Looking forward to watching the whole build!

Only difficulty I have choosing between EM2 and ES2 is that the coupe roof line looks really nice, but I've always liked the sedan rear until I started looking at modified coupes. @@khevenlagos It’s seriously super impressive how you came up with the idea of flipping the brackets based off what Honda did with the ES1/EM2’s in Thailand. Something I, and I’m sure most others performing this swap NEVER would’ve even considered. I’m sure the Hasport mounts are great, but I, like you, can’t justify $600+ for a couple of steel brackets. I’ve got a ways to go before I start my swap as I have a couple other projects in the works. But I’m going to try and utilize the pre-existing brackets in my ES1 and just flip them. Unlike using the RSX ones like you did. I’m nervous, but after seeing you show the brackets side by side I have faith that they’re similar enough that I’ll be able to fit em in snug with some spot welds

Also yes, $600+ for some mounts was just crazy so had to come up with a way to SAVE MONEY! Also I’d recommend using Ep3 Si or Rsx mount brackets since they were a little bit different plus I know you can get them for cheap and almost anywhere But I wish you luck!
