      I sold the Lone Riders. It was very well made gear. Terrible customer service. The worst I’ve ever experienced from any company ever. It was just a bit bulky for me. I went with the more streamlined Mosko gear.

    You’re not correct there somewhere, because I measured mine and from wheel off the ground to me sitting on the bike, the difference is 3.5”, which is perfect.

      Hey, Michael! Thanks for watching! I made this video a while ago, so I don’t remember the numbers, BUT they are and were absolutely correct. I can’t speak to your bike, but I’m quite certain that I measured correctly and made the correct adjustments.

      @@GeordieMacbike is same as this one. It doesn’t matter what shock or spring stiffness you have, the sag according to Cogent for the DR650 should be around 3.5”. Cogent documentation actually says 85mm +/- 10mm. Over 5” is a lot of sag with only 10.25” of available suspension travel. But if it works for you, than that’s all that’s important

    • @michaelhefford6420
      @michaelhefford6420 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It should be 30% of the available suspension travel, which is 10.25” on any DR. 9” in the lowered position of the stock shock. 30% of that. Not 30% of the distance you measured. That’s where it’s incorrect.

    If you have lived in Jax. very long, you may have seen a man riding his Harley from the sidecar he built for it. He lost his legs in military service. There are many good engineering firms in Jax. Because of its location on the ocean/ river / US Navy shipyards & closeness to Daytona Beach, there are many ways to earn money there.

    • @GeordieMac
      @GeordieMac 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I sold my bike, but I used the cell phone holder a lot. Actually, while traveling México, I mostly used it for stuffing money and receipts into while riding. I found it quite useful for toll booths. That’s my one recommendation for Mosko and the Hood - put some sort of quick, very easy access pouch on the outside for money in these types of situations. Toll booths can be a bit tricky to maneuver quickly. For my phone I mostly used and loved the handlebar mounted case. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    The Dr is an awesome platform. You can really customize it to make it your own. My bike has similar upgrades but i did it slowly. As parts wore out our broke i upgraded with better aftermarket farkels. Looks like you have creature comforts, protection and handling covered. Next step is performance, .... 790 kit, valves, pumper carb... doesn't end but the best way to spend your time and money. Enjoy, my friend, and rubber side down

    There's not a whole lot to crossing the border, either direction & over a million will tell you how difficult their trip was walking up to & across the border. Back in the mid90's I went back -n- forth & I dig all this footage. Reminds me of those days but now it's a little more dangerous traveling down there. This is only my 2nd video of yours & quite a setup on the DR >> That's what brought me to you & some great mods that I've not seen anywhere else. That windscreen to mold to the gas tank is fantastic work. I'm looking at the DR650 so seeing your careful thought in the setup is a key point leading me towards this bike as my goal. peace & I'll see ya on the next video.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah, the Ojinaga border crossing was very smooth, but somewhat surprisingly, there is no English spoken there, so you do kinda need to know what to do. It’s not chaotic or scary,but it’s also not straightforward and simple.

      Took a lot of courage to travel down there for the last 10 yrs now.... lol, I used just go run wild in Laredo back in the 90's but I was younger -n- dumber, Ohh yeah. Even then it was dangerous driving but nothing like the czars of illegal trade who are killing folks. I saw you prepping to go & all I could think of is how bad it is now. Glad you made it out, I'd all most say you had the hand of a higher power upon your shoulder. Thank you for sharing & for your time today. I'll be chatting w/ you later, I trust. I recently subscribed and I am enjoying your trip I've been planning a route through that same area and just happened to stumble across your videos and realized you were in the same area! I was riding Mexico at the same time you were there although I entered at Columbus near Laredo and I went through Saltillo and out to the coast near Veracruz and on thru Campeche and Yucotan and south to Panama. I just want to say one thing cuz in this video you did give people some advice about safety.... You need to make a habit of riding in the right side of the right lane and for sure do this in Mexico and all of Latin America. You are constantly expected and required to move over to the right as far as you can to allow other people to pass. Stay to the right and protect your blind spot. When the car came up behind you and you wondered where he came from? if you don't stay as far to the right as you can someday it's going to be some kid on a little motor scooter that comes up behind you and you drift into him not seeing him coming. In 40 years of motorcycle travel I've learned to watch the mirrors as much as the road ahead!

    OMG, I'm seriously looking into my future of building my DR650 2021 model I've just purchased!!!! I will say congrats on a perfect build and very quickly mind you..... I'm not rich nor poor but this outlay upfront and a build like this in a short time makes me rather envious really 🫵

      Hey, Mark. Thanks for watching and commenting. Congrats on owning a great bike! Well, there’s no perfect bike, but try to match your mods to your use and plans. I did all this crazy stuff to make the bike as reliable as possible for travel across Latin America. Obviously, I wouldn’t have done all that for riding some trails around my neighborhood. Some things are more functional while others are aesthetic. I loved researching and building it. Best of luck to you!

    Thanks for the video, but that popping sound for onscreen graphics was so annoying, I had to stop watching. I made it through 4:00. Hope I didn't miss anything important afterward. Nice of you to do the comparison, though.

      @@GeordieMac Yeah until the bike is dropped I've seen it happen, and I love the product but isn't worth 1600 dollars at all.

    • @GeordieMac
      @GeordieMac 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JS-lv5pn well, everyone has their opinions on what constitutes value. I respect your opinion, but I would still defend the Yenkro. I dropped the bike numerous times and had a small crash. The Yenkro was tough as nails and suffered no damage. I stand firmly behind Yenkro and the quality of its design, construction and aesthetic. It’s an amazing addition to the DR650.

    You’ve taken a basic reliable DR and made it a work of art. Most people just put a bigger gas tank and some luggage on them for some camping or to cross the outback or ride through South America.

    • @GeordieMac
      @GeordieMac 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, but in that neighborhood. Not exactly sure about amount of weight added either. Some parts, like the muffler, were heavier than their replacements.
