How wonderful! and what is this beautiful music?
Fascinating !
Amazing how many moves they have - very advanced ! Very interesting ! I puppeteered with old dutch puppets about 50-55 y ago. They were not so advanced. Such fun to enchant the children, make them glow with engagement, come close to the screen, but never look up !
Do one with Jimmica Collins please.
⚡️
I'm always most amazed at Frank Oz's Cookie Monster, so incredibly fluid in its movements, like a big furry blue amoeba. 😂
❤
Okay .. where can I find this movie. I remember back in the 80s when I was just 3 or 4 & my parents bought me this & I’ve been looking for this ever since. ❤

Watching this 3 weeks later as I recover from surgery. The 80's and early 90's really were a golden age for all of us! I'm not sure we would have ended up where we are without Iowa Arts council/NEA school shows and residencies.
I am a member of the San Francisco Bay area puppetry Guild and I have met these two and have learned a lot.
😊👍👍👍
Jim Henson was the hardest working man in show business, a creative genius and Disney(TM) bought The Muppets out just to shelve it for the competition. That sux...
Jim henson and frank oz my true bert and ernie
Mee too
Me interes...pues son pocos los que explican como poner h como van los hilos.
masonite, hard fiberboard, even a piece of scrap formica (plastic laminate) would work instead of "trunk fiber"
having studied Albrecht Roser's German Control (neither vertical nor horizontal, but at a more ergonomic angle between) i'm VERY HAPPY to see this strung to Rodney
Muchas gracias por el hermoso video saludos desde chile
Me gustó mucho
Ive been looking everywhere for this film. I had it as a kid. Do you know where I can find it?
I remember renting it out a few times as a kid myself, and would really like to see it again. Have spent years looking for it.
Year?
Good info
Fascinating how the puppet community works !
Love Bonnie Duncan! One of a kind!
7:40 That right there is Cameron Garrity from Puppet tears podcast!!
Puppeteers
Love this. Thank you so much for posting this video and thanks to the person that made the video.
Does any puppeteer live in Utah? I am looking for a theatre for puppetry but doesn't appear to be any. Would like to meet up with others.
Very instructive and helpful! Regards from Baltimore.
We want more Bil Baird puppet videos!!!!!!!!
We want more Bil Baird puppet videos!
Looking forward to the festival next year
Bart!!!
The split screen is great to show how his hand movements control the marionette. Fascinating.
WOW! What great explanations of his techniques and achievements!
On my PC this video is very shaky, is it available elsewhere?
I wish the Rose course was still available
Such a great example of bringing engineering to puppetry. Brilliant puppeteer. I wish I could have met him.
I was there. I was in the first potpourri, Celebration of Flight, and the parade at the end of the festival

@@rohailhashmi8050didn’t really sound like him
Since the festival is at Jim and Jane Henson's alma mater, the University of Maryland, the Henson family should do something for it like a screening.
I was so proud to take part in this wonderful group meeting. So many amazing things and announcements. I couldn't be more proud to be a PofA member.
I met Dick Myers in the 1970s at the Puppeteers of America festival. He kindly allowed me to carry cases for him and watch him set up for his performance and do a test run. He was very kind to me, but I'm sure he thought I was a pesty little kid. He made a huge impression on me for his creativity and craftsmanship.
Just realised Frank Oz could never do this with, say, Yoda. Wouldn't be appropriate, legal or easy to achieve in a live format. Nobody wants to see Yoda bantering with an audience... he's in a different category completely from The Muppets.
Also, Frank never does the voice without a puppet.
@@patrickmanway290 What about for records?
Not to mention how heavy the Yoda puppet was. It took three people to manipulate the Yoda puppet.
Wow Cookie Monster seems super low-effort, you can just about do him in a comfortable seated position just holding a conversation naturally, looks actually pretty seasy (if you have decades of puppeteering experience to the point where the mouthing comes automatically of course)
39:25 People aren't just clapping because oh hey it's familiar, but because those Muppets are PEOPLE in everyone's minds, and so it's rude not to clap when guests join a stage. Imagine just awkwardly sitting when Kermit the Frog arrives-- no, of course you clap, a famous movie star just "walked in the room". That's how real Muppets are to people.
Thank you Art & Hobey. I have always admired Hobey and his puppetry.
Hello! I'm not sure who this will reach, but I'm wondering if you are able to give me a few minutes of your time and explain in your own thoughts... (if possible) on how the marionette controller works on the puppet "alex barti". I would have to guess that you are familiar with this character. However, if you are not then I highly recommend you to do a online video search and prepare to smile in amazement... anyways...The internet is not that great for info on European marionettes. And I've stared at the handful of videos and photos that partially show one or both controllers online for hours trying to wrap my brain around it. What materials, the actual concept. I actually emailed Alex not expecting a reply of course. Asking similar questions and advice.. without being rude of course and asking him his secrets....And he actually replied a few days later saying .... Hello Trevor..."my control is my invention, it's made from steel and its very complicated, I've never got into teaching so I don't think I could teach it. It's still being developed everyday and I might one day decide to market and sell my control invention to the public with instructions. We will see" "But if I ever decide to teach it I promise to contact you". Thank you. So that was pretty cool of him but Since you guys are professionals in the same field I'm sure you have some kind of a better understanding of what's going on with this controller So please feel free to contact me that would be great....if not ,that's fine too !!!! Long live Marionettes!!!! Xoxo. Thank you very, very veryyyy much for your time!! Trevor from Ontario Canada.
Lars is awesome!
