Hello drone enthusiasts, family and friends! After a rewarding 30 year career in Product Management with a pretty well known consumer electronics A/V company I decided to get my FAA Part 107 license secure a job in the drone industry and become a student of "Landscape Aerial Videography". I feel very fortunate to be working with drones daily and have an amazingly photogenic aerial playground here in the LA Basin with urban, rural, coastal, mountain and desert airspace to fly in. Flying drones with confidence, safely and within FAA regulations are absolute first requirements and really not that difficult with practice, time and constant vigilance. The payoff is working and playing with these amazing 4K cameras from a hawks perspective to "see" that subject and continuously strive to uncover and share your creativity. As an aerial roof inspector I travel all over the LA basin week in and week out. While I'm usually just looking at roofs, I will, on occasion, look up and take a shot or 2 of the area. I'm usually under 100 feet and rarely do any distance flying. Rufus is a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom I use for commercial Part 107 work. I also use a Mini 2 for recreational social media when Rufus is busy uploading a job. ...

My July 2024 monthly installment of 4k drone landscape photo's and video clips from around S. California. This month we found ourselves in Ventura, Pacific Palisades, Century City over to Riverside and down to Orange County, Dana Point and Huntington Harbour. We even saw a very cool drone light show I included at the end, Rufus is 3rd from the left, 2nd row. Enjoy.

Fun month of flying; had crystal clear days, some wind, a hard rain and some very cool beach and mountain locations from Seal Beach to Thousand Oaks to Camarillo, Wilshire District, and Long Beach's beautiful Eldorado Park. Camera's set to 4K auto with ISO locked @ 100. Edited and instrumental background music with Movavi. Used a mix of DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and a Mini 2. Interesting month with a mix of hot summer, Santa Ana winds, El Nino fall rolling in.

Wow, September blew by! Had jobs all over the basin with a nice mix of town and country, sunny and some am fog. Still waiting on my RID module I'll use till DJI updates my Mavic 2 Zoom (Rufus) sometime in December; module should arrive mid Oct.

Did you capture any recumbent bike footage on the bike path on this day of flying? I ask because I had a drone follow me for a while on the bike path that day, and was hoping to view the footage. Thanks,
No, wasn’t me. I wouldn’t follow anybody without their permission. I ride to Rivers End one day most weekends and occasionally get some drone footage before the No-fly zone starting just south of the 405 underpasses. I ride a white Fuji cross. Catch you at the bridge!
@@DroneBass1 Cool, I'll watch for you. The drone followed me right by where the guys fly the drones there at the park. Would have loved to have seen the footage. The drone was head level along side of me flying over the channel. Then did a higher altitude pass above me from behind to in front of me. Looked expertly flown. I'm out there everyday between Alondra and Marina Drive. Thanks,
