This is not good exegesis of the text. Look at the context and look at the full verse and you will see this verse is saying the Word of God keeps us from skidding off the rails when we pay attention to it and follow its precepts. I’m a little tired of preachers Americanizing the amazing and beautiful Biblical text and twisting it to say what THEY want it to say. Preachers are called to preach THE WORD, not their own ideas. The worst part about this clip is he makes a pretense of exegeting the text, while actually distorting it badly.

Beautiful sermon to hear. Especially as my wide and I are traveling in Malaysia, a country with majority Muslim. The other day, I met an artist, Francis Goh. He had gifted me a small painting he called "Journey". But he also showed me his paintings of fishing. He asked me, "Do you know the difference between a fisherman and an angler?" He told me a fisherman fishes for a living. An angler fishes for fun. A couple of days later, I was having a conversation with a local about Islam. As we talked, I mentioned about Abraham and Ishmael, and their belief of Mary. He told me that his beliefs could not allow him to talk about our subject anymore. Our conversation ended, but I truly believe that the Holy Spirit is working in him. Lord, give me strength and courage to be a fisherman.

I used to attend this church in the early years with my family. I have very fond memories. I must say, wow! I never thought I would see drums in this church.
