This is my 10th day in Japan and I have one extra disclaimer about the transportation. YES use Google maps, BUT there will be times when your exact location using the GPS is not that accurate because many lines are subways, and the GPS signal doesn't reach that well in most cases. Just follow the indications from Google maps (e.g. enter exit 2) and keep your eyes open for the arrows indicating your destiny. I'm from a country with no subways or trains, so it was very difficult for me to understand.

Pro tip if you have a group: Get a wifi hotspot (I use ninja wifi) and bring a battery bank. Keep the hotspot in your bag, on, and attached to the battery and you'll have wifi for your whole group all day. Extra tip: Sumimasen is important in restaurants, too. Servers in Japan won't bother you like they do in the west, so use sumimasen to get their attention when you need something.
