      Nature provides the most amazing feelings, we are lucky to be able to bring back those amazing images and share it with the world. On our dives, we tend to find a spot and stay still for quite a while, the Ocean then shows again its freedom of movement, unwary of our presence; it is a majestic show of life. Thank you for your words.

    Are the bull sharks not dangerous to humans? I thought they were very aggressive, yet shark attacks are extremely rare in Mauritius.

    • @Oceanvibration
      @Oceanvibration 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      All wild animals may be dangerous to humans in certain circumstances. Bull sharks are not necerally more aggressive but the fact that they are found a lot in waters with bad visibility, it makes it more dangerous because of test/identifications bites. Human-shark interactions are indeed rare in Mauritius. It may be due to the low number of people in the water compared to other countries in my opinion but there no actual research that can actually explain why.

    Great video, is the whole island inconsistent? or just Tamarin Bay? Are the local surfers friendly with US Citizens/Expats?

    • @Oceanvibration
      @Oceanvibration 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah pretty much sadly. The main swell coming from the south west is blocked by Réunion island so we just pick scraps really. There are plenty of other spots but they are not high quality waves and need combination of tide, swell direction, and wind direction to work. If you love here and have the time to drive around the island, there is always something to surf if you surf everything from small to mushy. Local surfers are as everywhere else. Friendliness of locals comes with one’s ability to fit in, share and respect the local culture. 👊🏽

      @@Oceanvibration Thank you for your reply. My wife and I have been considering relocating our family to Mauritius from California. Everything seems great there but we haven't actually traveled there. We hope to visit within the next couple of months. Our only concerns are will there be enough surf for our appetite and the rough localism we've heard about on the internet. Being from California I've certainly seen aggressiveness in the water but not really since the 90's. There are just too many people in Southern California these days for that kind of behavior too exists anymore. We just don't want to land in a place where we will never be accepted as local residents and have our kids deal with that kind of nonsense. You know they are little and eventually one of them will accidentally drop in on someone. Heck I do it every once in a while, not purposely but it happens. But you pull out, apologize, and move on. I agree in most of the world a smile and friendliness goes a long ways.

      @@PageSparx I left San Diego and travelled to Mauritius in 99 as part of a year surfing around the world. I somehow befriended the locals (Ludovic and Toyo) that were top ranked at the time. Really nice guys. I didn’t see too much unprovoked localism fortunately. I left the US permanently in 2006 and live in Australia now. Way better than the US. If you’re going to move to Mauritius, better to visit first. It’s a small place and could feel claustrophobic on a small island. Also learn French. I spoke French so had less problems than other travellers. Good luck
