MK1s of Alpine Volks Fair 2024
Just a glimpse of the many incredible builds brought out by even more incredible people at AVF this year. It's unreal to see so many of these cars in one place.
I tried to get everyone but I know I missed a few. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat!

I Bought My Dream Car and It Has Rust Issues..? - 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI Build - Episode #1
มุมมอง 4524 ปีที่แล้ว
Hello everyone and welcome to my first video on TH-cam! Today's video is the beginning of my long-awaited dream car build. Ever since I was a kid, I've always dreamed of having a red Mk1 GTI Hardtop and I can finally say that it is now a reality. Rather than doing a forum with this build (because they're all basically dead now), I am going to document all of my progress here on TH-cam in hopes ...

    Nice, what was the line you were hookng up and then tying up in the rear?

    • @poorrichardsgarage
      @poorrichardsgarage วันที่ผ่านมา

      That would be the air line for the air shocks I initially ran to a Schrader valve by the license plate. Setup looks a bit different today. I need to post an update of the latest suspension changes!

    Hamilton why are you using this fuse block ? Use the OEM VW block and press on..

    • @poorrichardsgarage
      @poorrichardsgarage 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sevenhornets the original harness was in terrible shape after 40 years and multiple owners. This setup should reliably serve the car for another 40 years

    what rear air shock did you use for the caddy?

  • @425flex
    @425flex 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    would it have been easier just to buy a full steering column to replace it than rebuilding? i have to do the same project to my caddy. thanks

    • @poorrichardsgarage
      @poorrichardsgarage 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not aware of anywhere selling a remanufactured column but maybe. If you buy a used one it will more than likely have the same issues. They all fail at some point. The rebuild is a little time consuming but not super difficult with the right tools

    Looks killer I’m having a hard time completely removing my rear leaf springs the bolt faces the body and doesn’t have clearance any tips?

    • @poorrichardsgarage
      @poorrichardsgarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure on that one man. I would think the bolt should slide out of the inside where the body isn't in the way. If yours are somehow inverted, cutting the bolts out and replacing them may be your only option

    Almost there with the suspension on my build.. I bought some wheels this week but I have 15x8 all around.. I’m sure I’ll need to roll the fenders too like you did.. do you remember what size tires you ran on your wheels? I know you mentioned the front wheels are 7 and rears are 8 nice setup man! Also agree with others the graphics on the sides are waaay cool!!
