You should tell the scammer's name. If she is for real, she should be proud of her patent and not afraid of people knowing who she is. I assume that her email does not say to keep her name a secret. If someone starts a class action lawsuit, post about it. I imagine that hundreds of crafters will join it.

Well said @wendytownrow3950 I believe this email was sent by direct email because the patent owner is grossly misinformed as to what her patent involves and what her limitations are and how she is to properly contact those that she feels are violating her patent. This patent DOES NOT include any other forms of 3D Embossed Embroidery

So that woman is trying to patent the trapunto? Hell nah, that's older than Columbus' discovery of America 🤣 And in that case, she should pay Italy for the Copyright and Intellectual Property. I smell a scam and I bet you can find a good copyright lawyer that can help you out with that. Her story reminds me of more than one designer that were claiming property of Oaxacan embroidery patterns and many others that go around the globe stealing other cultures design styles, claiming they invented it and want to stop the original creators from continuing using them. The audacity is strong in that woman.

You should not given up your videos. She was infringing the law by trying to scare you. You can escalate if you want. Look at this "1. That's a shame. After I watched your video it made me want to do this. I don't wear sweatshirts but it would be a great gift item for others. I feel bad that people have to put up with greed. My best guess is that that person that contacted you probable went full throttle and got a patent to help them legally when they have things created in R.O. C. I shop temu and wish (for fun) and I find a ton of Marti Michell tools for sale for a fraction of the price and they don't even to bother of taking her logo off of them. Her name is removed but the logo and colour of ink they use is definitely Marti Michell.

Sounds like the patent is for embossed APPLIQUE not straight embroidery
