United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 พ.ค. 2022
Hello and welcome! I restore old items of all shapes and sizes in an attempt to save a little bit of our shared history. Join me as I do my best to save the past!
Buried Rusty Pliers Restoration #restoration #tools
I found this pair of self-adjusting pliers buried in my yard
along with some other items and trash. I wanted to just see if I could get these working again and save them from being lost forever. I found out I would not be able to completely disassemble them without destroying some parts like the grips so I decided to just do as much as I could. One man's trash is another man's treasure! These were made by Craftsman in the USA and are called RoBo Grips. I hope you enjoy!

Air Ratchet Rusty Restoration - #restoration #tools
มุมมอง 35K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this restoration video, I restore an old air ratchet I found at a swap meet for 3 dollars. The manufacturer's stickers were gone but from searching on the internet, it looks to be a Campbell Hausfeld. Before disassembly, I tried to plug it in and see if it worked and it would not turn over. I hope you enjoy the video! @SaveThePastRestoration #restoration Products: www.amazon.com/WD-40-Specia...
Ball-Peen Hammer Restoration and Modification
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a restoration and modification of an old ball-peen hammer. I make a new handle out of purpleheart wood and clean the rust off the head with electrolysis. Thanks for watching! @SaveThePastRestoration
Fallout Fan Restoration
มุมมอง 9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Vintage Zero model 1250R electric fan restoration - I found this little fan at a swap meet and got it because it reminded me of the little fans you find in the Fallout game series. It was in somewhat rough shape and only worked intermittently. I hope you enjoy the restoration and thanks for watching!
Very Rusty Old Sickle Restoration
มุมมอง 8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
For this video, I am restoring a very old and rusty sickle I found in my house from the previous owner. First, it is disassembled then the rust is removed from the blade and a new handle is made from some spalted red oak firewood.
How old is this fan? hello from Germany :)
Hello and thanks for watching! From what I can tell, it is from the 1960's.
That's beautiful but I think that handle would chew your hands to pieces after you swing it a few times with that clear coat on it
Thanks for watching! I thought so too, but it hasn't bothered me so far.
If anybody really wants to know these are the old Sears model they've been around forever with a few minor tweaks here or there but they're basically the same damn model
Thanks
I gonna run around with just this and exactly 10 caps
😂😂
I love to bring old good stuff back on life. Very good job. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Nice work. I love the purple heart wood. That`s some hard wood.
Thanks! That's for sure, it goes through sandpaper like crazy.

Thanks for watching! Sure, the tool is called a strap wrench. I got that one at an auto parts supply store. You can also find them on Amazon. Cheers!
@@SaveThePastRestoration thank you 👍
I would thank you for this video, I've found it very useful, I got, for a long time, a lot of trouble without be good to disassemble a rotary air drill (by CP - Chicago Pneumatics) very like yours that I need to restore. Good work.

WOW! I just started to fix an old eskimo my girlfriend got me from an antique store for my birthday since I had a weird fascination with the fallout fans. This is incredibly helpful!

Wrench's manufacturer?
The label was gone, but it appears to be a Campbell Hausfeld. Thanks for watching!
Very cool!
Thanks! 🙏
Can I buy spare parts for this anywhere? I have the same one, but I broke the face plate around the socket mount and need a new one.
Hello and thanks for watching! It looks like you can if you search Campbell Hausfeld air ratchet replacement parts in Google a couple hits come up. If yours has the model number on it then you should be able to find some parts! Cheers!

Thanks so much!
That’s pretty cool to see the insides of one of these larger McGraw Edison fans (that’s the manufacturer who made these). They were the cheap fans of their day, made from I’m pretty sure the 40s all the way through the 70s although styling changed over time. They are also referred to as dime store fans. I have the 8 inch model, of which mine happened to be sold and branded by Rexall drug stores. Mine is branded Rex-Ray, which is a pretty neat name. Please be advised though, if you were going to use this regularly, as these were cheaper fans, they weren’t built with the highest quality materials, and therefore need a bit more attention when used. Be sure to regularly Oil all the bearing surfaces and keep the gearbox greased with fresh non-oil based grease. This will help greatly extend the service life of your fan. With that out of the way, that was a pretty cool resto!
That is super interesting! I wanted to provide some history of these fans but nothing really came up from a web search. I was just able to find the model number/ manufacturer and it was probably made sometime in the 60's. That's funny you mention they were cheap because compared to today's products they look like tanks haha. I use it a little here and there and definitely keep it lubricated. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
Good looking work. Will be looking for your next project.
Thank you very much! I try to release a video every week!
I have the same fan from my grandmother. It’s been cleaned and smoothly spins but smells when running. Any thoughts as to why?
@@charlesloeffler333 it may be the fan needs some lubrication or maybe the lube already on the fan is just a smelly product. I would try adding some lubrication like 3 in 1 oil first and see if that helps.
@@SaveThePastRestoration thanks for the advice. “3-in-1” Oil? Wow, I bet few garages or shops still have that one. Mine does, somewhat as an ode to my grandfather and dad
Nailed it with this restoration!
That’s sexy. Nice job.
Gotta love restored tools!
Love the color! Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very cool.😊
Thanks so much!
