It was this way since Acts chapter 1 until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: Acts 1:2 KJV if we would only listen to the Holy Spirit we wouldn't even concern ourselves with these false teachers. And yes there are prophets that can tell us about what is to come but it is for the admonishment of the body and prepares the body of Christ as to what we are to do here. Paul never called his own writings scriptures we did that.
