    been looking for examples of people using a improved clinch directly to their other tippet line. Gives me hope that the last few break offs ive had werent due to a bad system. Im experimenting by doing 12-18in from tippet ring to first fly, then an 8-10in improved clinch to the tippet above first fly. Seems to work well if you are running duel egg patterns, run the first fly heavier then the 2nd and they will likely drift at and around the same level.

    I saw such a ridiculous video by the tenkara rod company trying to say a cane pole cheap cheap jointed cane pole was all they could find to compare a pole to their tenkara rods and tenkara style fishing ❓ such a dishonest and cheap way to try to try to fool the public and it only helps them to sell their very expensive tencara poles ❗❗❗ I guess they think we're all a bunch of dumbasses 🤣❗❗❗ I looked back to see if my comment was still there that I posted on their video and it wasn't.. don't be deceived there are plenty of tenkara type of poles on the market even through Amazon for $15 and they work great 👍 my father about 20 years ago gave me a 24-ft telescopic Korean brand Pole that works amazing ❗👍.. I have several and different lengths too.. I have a Chinese brand 6 ft telescopic works great and I have a Shakespeare 10-ft telescopic that works excellent 👍🏽.. Bought the Shakespeare through Walmart online bought the Chinese 6-ft through Amazon online and I think I paid for the two of them together maybe $40 ❓ don't be fooled ❗ yes this is like back in the old days when you tied fishing line on the end of a stick 👍🤣.. it's been around for a long long time 👍

Just bring a dab of floatant instead of a whole bottle (I use tiny 1” x 1” ziplocks). I pack my 4 wt rod in a tube for protecting fluorescent lights and cushion it with my spare socks. that was quick and easy! fishing TENKARA rod does it remind you of when you were a kid and mom or dad would tie a string to a stick, then tie a hook or safety pin to the line for you to fish with? what i like/found with tenkara style rod is that it reminds me how i fish with my fly rod with a fly or a hook and worm, wish my fly rod would break down into a small package like those tenkara rods do,, i guess i just need to spend the money to buy a good tenkara rod like i did for my fly rod

      Sometimes I do depending on the water/situation. When I backpacked the Smoky's for a week in August, I just wet waded with my hiking shoes (trail runners) and had a dry pair of camp sandals to wear in the evenings. In PA snake country, I pack in my boots and waders. I have a light pair of orvis waders but I'm looking at their new ultralight waders because my current wading boot are crazy heavy.

      @@newlifeeveryday1821 They don't break very often but when the do.. it's sad. I actually broke my fly rod on the way in on our Smoky mountain trip. I usually do back country stuff with one or two other people so we just decide who will carry the extra backup rod. My son was carrying the extra 6 piece packable Orvis 5wt. on the trip so that's what I used. I've only ever broke one rod so far on a trip.. and that was the Smoky Mountain trip. It actually happened when I was loading my pack onto a golf cart to carry it out to the boat... never realized I broke the rod until we were in camp on the first night.

On trips with more days, more miles and steep terrain, I typically leave the net home to save weight and room for the extra food I will need to pack. Great video! Do you optimise your flies as well? I am trying to reduce down to my top 6 dries and top 6 nymphs into 2 x Orvis slimline boxes. Couple of extras thrown in but just trying to limit it to the essentials - as they say, it is more about the right place at the right time than exactly matching the hatch :)

    • @JuanMoreFish
      @JuanMoreFish 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a handful of dry flies and nymphs. What I try to do is use "suggestive" flies... meaning that they could represent multiple bugs. example: Size 12 (I carry the fly in #16 and #12) Elk Hair caddis is one of my most successful dry flies. I've used it with great success in flows in PA, the Sierra CA, and the Smokies NC... very versatile. Caddis are prevalent in many flows across the country. In addition, It could be a caddis, moth or grasshopper as far as the fish is concerned. In size 12 it is great for dry dropper fishing.
