January 17, 1893 The Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom - Ke Aloha O Ka Haku (Queen's Prayer)
มุมมอง 2.8K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
131 Year Anniversary of the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This video is more detailed and mature for younger keiki, but I felt leaving details out would not tell the full story of events that took place leading up to the overthrow. EDIT: At the end it says she retired at Washington Palace. It is suppose to say Washington Place. Sorry!

For more information visit lahoihoiea.org Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea History The national celebration of Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea was established in 1843 under Kamehameha III, Kauikeaouli, after a temporary occupation by rogue agents of the British Crown. Effective control of the government had been seized and all Hawaiian flags were lowered and burned by order of British Lord George Paulet. Months later, Queen Vict...

Our government was overthrown not the nation itself. Even the United States admits to this in the Apology bill... that we never gave up our inherit sovereignty. That's why we all need to start celebrating November 28th again. Our independence as a sovereign state is still very much a real thing. If you google PCA and Hawaiian Kingdom, you can learn about how we still have a nation recognized in the highest international court at the Hauge.

We really need to stop the lie that our Kingdom was overthrown. Libya's government was toppled, Libya still exists as a country, so does Iraq... invasion does not equate to losing a nation. In 1893 our government was toppled by the United States. There is no treaty of annexation. No session of sovereignty and no ceding of lands... what happened in short is occupation.
