I used to kick start my R.E. Interceptor 750 series II by being on the bike and balancing the bike (not using kick stand). I would then kick start it and immediately ride off. The engine always starting on the first kick. Those were the days.
Just noticed your surname Michael. About 8 miles from me is a large manor house called Delaval Hall, the ancestral home of the Delaval family handed down for centuries through the Lords and Ladies of the Delaval family. You could add an "a" to your name and claim to be a descendant. I'll go halves with whatever you inherit. Lol Dave
Re Tappets. "They all sound like that sir" Loud tappets, as well as loud exhausts save lives. No one has ever stepped out in front of me( 500 Bullet with Goldie "silencer" (stick a lens in either end and it would make a passable telescope! Insert evil cackle here) Dave UK
A really nice bike in a class of its own and one that certainly ploughed its own furrow at the time. It would be great to think they'll go into production once again in India! the sooner, the better!
Fantastic! Beautiful bike. Did it really start up first-kick like that or had it already been started and warmed up? Also, can you hear the tappets when it first starts up?
they tend to be a bit like that,this model came out with R Cams,meaning race and no quietening ramps on the Cam,fit the SM Cam and that gets ride of the tap tap.
Great indeed.But use a suitable headgear to make it perfect.
