While not horror exactly, The Matrix contains lots of body horror elements. Neo follows the white rabbit, he goes down the looking glass and is shown the truth, the horror of the world he thought he lived in.
All they do is f*** nd eat sounds pretty evil to me
Really well made and entertaining video :)
Well, if u see rabbits fighting, its nasty.....
Kid those songs were always super creepy..... Alrighty everybody lets join hands and sing about how we are all surely going to die from this awful nasty plague
Don’t forget: The main villain of Five Nights at Freddy’s is Springtrap aka William Afton. The rabbit suit he constantly wears could be symbolic of how he uses an innocent persona to lure his victims to a violent death.
When i was a kid i stayed at a farm my father had during the weekend. I watched the watership down movie lte one night and remember the impact it had. The very next morning, i remember waking up to people yelling, our dog had gotten into the neighbors rabit pin and killed them. I remember thinking it was somehow connected. Looking back, it is one hell of a coincidence..
Glossed over medieval symbolism of rabbits as aggressor in war against humans and dogs. Medieval illuminated manuscripts and other art depicted rabbits in this ironic form and western society never lost it. Exploring that in depth first would make the modern depictions make sense. Things have not changed symbolically over a few hundred years.
I think the first person who made rabbits scary was genuinely afraid and everyone else was like “ah that’s actually really creepy”
Anyone that remembers the Rabbit of Caerbannog understands how utterly vicious and without remorse bunnies can be.
i am shocked by the lack of "Monty Phyton and the Holy Grail" segment. A great video non the less
Claiming that rabbits are inherently unthreatening or helpless reminds me of a passage from The Book of Deadly Animals, which states approximately "rabbits are perfectly capable of biting, and the strength of the bite belies their image as a cuddly toy." The section of this book goes on to describe at least one documented instance of a rabbit biting a child's finger clean off. Humans often think plenty of other animals are absolutely no danger to us because most of us can't get away from the nonsense of pretending that we're the "dominant species."
I think the front-facing eyes of fictional rabbits is creepy, usually that is a predatory trait
neat! thank you
Thinking ab bad bunny telling us that he named himself that bc “no matter how bad a bunny is they’re still cute” lol.
The ludo pfp!!! ❤
Some constructive criticism. The music choice was far too upbeat and distracting with such a serious and interesting subject matter. Something eerie and slow would have been better. Another issue was not making clear distinctions between bunnies, hares, rabbits and jackrabbits. Many of the examples you showed throughout the video were not rabbits and often the 'creepy' or 'evil' depictions are actually hares (which are justifiably very creepy things). Overall, your video was very interesting and well organized. Keep up the good work!
this could have been a fantastic opportunity to include lucky the rabbit from dark deception, like COME ONNN HE PUNCHES PEOPLE TO DEATH 💔💔💔
Monty Python and the holy grail showed their true nature
omfl bunnicula, thats a DEEP memory, i used to read those in 3rd grade. Crazy nostalgia right there.
anyone else as a kid imagine those things on the stick to taste like the sausage in the middle of the breakfast corndogs
There is also a horror game "Tiny Bunny" that includes a rabbit too
to me, usually, rabbits that are violent in media usually symbolize broken or lost innocence. it's effective because rabbits are considered pretty peaceful, innocent creatures. usually, the rabbit symbol starts off innocent, but becomes dark and twisted, typically by some outside force. it's also meant to be a commentary on that outside force. it is very rare for an innocent creature like a rabbit, in most stories, to be dark, evil, violent, or any other negative term, without a reason. i can't even think of one off the top of my head. the closest one i can think of is "Habit" from everyman hybrid, but even then, it feels as though Habit simply adopted the rabbit symbol, and wasn't necessarily a rabbit himself.
you forgot the rabbits from Re:zero. Fire video btw
when i saw the title of this video i thought "overgrowth. rabbit murder rabbit. OVERGROWTH. VIOLENCE. RABBIT MURDER DOG. MURDER RABBITS. MURDER RABBIT FROM OVERGROWTH WIT A KNIFE KILL CATS." is that bad that i started thinking of that.
i think a really good example of a rabbit being a symbol for purity being subverted to show the loss of innocence is the bunny boy from Gummo. Gummo isnt exactly a horror film but its disturbing nonetheless bc it is about the loss of innocence and the fucked up circumstances the cast of kids are in.
"Children are inherently innocent beings" Not in my experience...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail too! Great video
Thanks for reminding me people are garbage.
Rabbits symbolize purity so the horror movies make it opposite. Rabbits are also very fragile. They are almost otherworldly, ethereal. They represent the fragileness of life.
as a witch with a bunny familiar... I resemble that remark. I have loved bunnies since childhood though, but I didn't really watch any movies where they were evil. tricksters though, oh yeah for sure. I started to go on a deep dive into rabbits in media about 6 months ago I got only part way through and I had to hug my buuny boy.
rabbits eat their babies sometimes.
No , the rabbits in the cage in the class room represents the state of all the people in the world with in the bounds of "education" /academia. Rabbit iconography is ancient back to ancient Egypt if not before. The rabbit is a generally a quiet animal representing the introvert vs the extrovert. All imagery is ingrained thought process in mob or mass collective. I myself would never take the word of any those involved in the film industry.
I was literally about to go grab my copy of it when you mentioned Paper Moon 😂
0:30 aaaaaa its a karen
"Tormented" 2011 Another movie showing rabbits in horror 🐰
you forgot to mention the killer bunny from minecraft
You forgot the rabbit from Gummo lol 😊
Rabbits as a violence symbol? Oh i am not reading the same literature as yall lol, first thing that comes go mind is queercoding in chinese fantasy
you forgot songs too, "run rabbit run" video clip, they end the farmer because they reproduced too much, like what happened in Australia
The book Bunny by Mona Awad (one of my favourite books too) explores the ties between purity, femininity & bloody urges, through a cult-like group of girls who refer to one another as "Bunny". I remembered this book as soon as you brought up The Secret History.
Thank you for this
I raised rabbits as a kid . So very often, and with limited impetus, the mothers tore apart and ate their babies. It likely imprinted on my brain, likewise for others who write and create media.
Loved this video! I don't watch horror but as soon as I saw this video I wanted to watch it! I was also wondering if you were going to mention wallace and gromit as well! As a child afraid of werewolves, watching wallace and gromit and the curse of the were-rabbit freaked me out almost as much as werewolves did! Also, have you watched Beastars? I have only watched half of the first season but the one of the main characters is a dwarf rabbit named Haru.
We are introduced to the false sense of safety, through innocent characteristics. We usually see innocent characters are harmless, now they attack us, catch us off guard, that’s why it is scary.
Great analysis! Underrated channel. Subscribed.
Holy shit, I totally forgot about _Bunnicula_ until just now. Woah, talk about a blast from the past.
How did monty python not come up
