LC Racing EMB-T: Do you need to shim your diff?
It's a common issue with the LC Racing EMB series RCs where the outer diff gear and the bevel gear get chewed up pretty quickly due to fitment issues. It appears LC Racing fixed the issue with the HD Diff with a nice a snug fit but just in case yours doesn't, you will want to shim it.
Checklist
1. No play between the diff in the case diff.
2. Slight play between the bevel gear and outer ring gear (similar to meshing a motor pinion/spur)
3. No resistance/grinding when you spin the diff
I'm order to properly shim, you need to pass all 3 checks above.

Hey! Thanks for a video. I have an emb-t and always suffering from diff installation in place. After installing it in box it spins ok, but in some positions it stutters. I’ve noticed that this relates to screw tightening order, but never spins without issues. There is no broken teeths. It happens to rear differential most of the time. Even with new diffs and new diff boxes I have that issue. What should I do?
Hi sergeydanko1999, thanks for reaching out. Since you're using all new diff components it really boils down to make sure you have it shimmed properly and that you have adequate diff oil. First, make sure you're using a new diff oil and fill to about 80-90% full. After that, when you close up the diff before shimming i assume this is when you experience the stuttering, right? If so use the methods in the video to either add shims to reduce or increase the mesh from the diff gear and bevel. if its too close, it will feel tight with a slight grind. If It's too far, it will feel loose, causing the motion to feel inconsistent (sometimes loose, sometime tight) or sutter as you mentioned. adding shims to the side your gear diff is on to reduce the gap and this should resolve your issue.

And I believe i should extremely gently tighten up the diffbox, otherwise I will never have perfect spinning with this diff box even if I’ll re-tight it again due to kind of flatten diff box plastic. And sorry for my english 😊
@@sergeydanko1999 generally speaking almost all RC kits require some shimming or adjustments. Were talking about variances of 0.1-0.2mm. Its sounds like nothing but its the difference between lasting 10 hours and 100 hours sometimes. Always shim for optimal performance.

Additional note: Add heavy metal grease to the outer diff gear and bevel to reduce wear.

Hi Andrew, In short, no. I've tired a few random brands from amazon but wasn't impressed by them. I think in general magnetic ones have an issue with the lid staying on tight so i haven't seen one that fits like i want. If your okay with the non-magnetic ones, those are more secure but feel a bit unpolished in terms of overall build quality. I'm still waiting on something better and might just have to work with companies to make one. I saw pokerev has some but look identical to these.
