Checking Trail Cams In Florida SWAMP After 4 Months!
What saddle stand is that?
The saddle is our 'Challenger Saddle'. The stand is the 'Cold World" stand from XOP
Wouldn’t it just be easier to us a couple climbing-rated carabiners on each end?
You could do that, its up to you at the end of the day.
@@hangfreeco I’m new to saddle hunting, and I’m just trying to figure out how to do my bridge…like, should I make it a set length (24”-28”?), or is it supposed to be adjustable? Or is that all preference
@@thedawsonian9094 There are "Fixed Bridges" and there are adjustable bridges. Multiple options of either choice are available. The large majority of saddle hunters are going to run a bridge that adjusts in some way.
I guess a second rope for the bottom button by the platform isn’t necessary?
Not necessarily although its never a bad thing to have one. A lot of times, for full size stands, we will set the stand with the Full Bury 3/16 H.F.A.S. and once its good to go put a 1/8 Full Bury H.F.A.S. on the bottom button just for general safety and security. Its really up to you though in terms of how you want to do it.
Y’all’s shipping is lighting fast can’t wait to try out my Hang free attachment system for my Xop edge platform. I was really impressed with your custom three step aider y’all made for my hawk helium sticks. Keep up the great work thanks.
Glad you like it! And we do our best to get orders out as quickly as possible!
Has anyone tried it with a madrock safeguard or other belay device? technically both the 8mm and 11mm would be out of spec.
We cant tell you to use it with anything other than what is in spec for the safeguard. What you do on your own is up to you. MadRock should be coming out with a Safeguard sized for 8mm sometime this year but not sure of exact dates.
How long are the continuous loops for the triad setup?
22"
You guys suck you don't you don't ship to Canada
When will the Truckers Hitch version available on your site?
It is available right now. All 3/16 H.F.A.S. products have a truckers hitch option that you can add. On the listing itself it should be under the "version" tab.
I am going to probably get the truckers hitch version because the standard doesn’t get tight and the top is loose when I cam it over.
Thanks for reminding me why i 1stick.
Haha, no problem. In all fairness though, it significantly slows down the process when trying to get the filming aspect and the correct angles. If Van wasn't trying to make sure the cameras got everything, he could get a platform and stand set up in seconds. One sticking is definitely a great option though!
The CT Ascender Simple + has a machining flaw ( razor edge) and picked my new rope jacket. I'm disappointed, and even worse, the seller won't take it back. Not happy. Ropeman 1 looks right for me.
The ropeman 1 is a great product!
what brand and model of shears are those?
There are a bunch of different brands. D-Splicers are usually good though. You'll need the larger size and a hell of a grip to actually cut the rope. The trimming and other stuff can be done with smaller sizes.
@hangfreeco Thanks. So is that the brand shown in the video? The red handled ones
@@cooterbrown1703 Yessir!
Switching to one sticking How does Samson compare to the Canyon
It’s more pliable, more packable, lighter, holds its color better over time, stands up to heavy usage the same if not better, and in our opinion, looks a hell of a lot cooler. You can decide for yourself though!
Not to mention a heck of a lot more affordable.
I’m having a hard time knowing what to order to use a Kong on my lineman’s belt. I want to go to the tight eye with 2 biners and run a Kong with it. I’ve only ever ran rope mans but with the 8mm I know I need to switch. Great vids man and I’m gonna switch all my ropes and my bridge to predator after going through all of your videos. Looks like a great rope
@@geauxoutdoors One of our owners, Wyatt, runs a Tight Eye Predator Lineman's with a Kong Duck. He has a carabiner clipped through the tight eye and lineman's loop and leaves that on permanently while storing the rest of the rope, kong, and second carabiner in his pouch. Then when he is ready to use the lineman's, he just takes it out of the bag, throws it around the tree, clips the second carabiner on and he's good to go. Its a extremely streamlined system. As far as the Predator goes, you simply cant beat it. You will thank yourself later! Have a good one.
@@hangfreecosweet. Thx. That’s exactly what I was thinking was the way to set it up but glad you replied to confirm. Thx so much
nice. What is the purpose of the prussic manager?
The Tender makes moving the Prusik itself quite a bit easier.
Where are y’all based out of?
Orlando Florida!
THE ROPEMAN AND KONG WILL DESTROY YOUR ROPE IF YOU FALL OR PULL THE TAB WHILE OFF THE GROUND!!!!
That's really only true if you are falling a significant distance. For saddle hunting, a significant distance shouldn't be possible if the proper equipment is used.Regardless, you will be alive. Replacing a rope isn't the end of the world as long as you are alive to do so.
Thank you I never would have thought tying a friction hitch this way was possible.
Thats what we are here for! We will have more videos coming out soon enough.
How is your tether attached to your rappel rope?
@hangfreeco 0 seconds ago Hey Katie, with the way this method is being done, the Tether is the Rappel Rope. When desired height is reached the rest of the rope goes back into the bag on his hip.
Is this better than the oplux?
In our opinion, yes it is!
Thanks
I bought your 8mm oplux tether and 1/4" amsteel bridge. Just wanted to say thanks. They are a dream to climb with and were much cheaper than some other companies I looked at. I also appreciate you guys always replying to my TH-cam comments. That was the deciding factor in choosing you guys. With so much gear and new tactics I'm sure people have a ton of questions and I really appreciate that you guys take the time.
We are glad you love the gear. And we might be a few days late sometimes but we try and reply to everybody that we can. We understand what it was like to be a customer and want to give everybody the best experience we can!
I really like the XOP platform, I just wish they would get them back in stock. As for your videos, I have been saddle hunting for many years and I constantly learn new cool little nuggets every time I watch one. Keep them coming.
The people over at XOP are good people that care about their customers. Thanks for watching and we will be posting more videos soon!
35 years ago that process would have been for me. Now at 61 I will stick to using three or four sticks as required. If I would have known about your items a few years ago I could have refined my system at a much low cost. Appreciate what you do for the saddle hunter. Keep them coming.
We appreciate you Walter! Our goal is to provide the top quality gear at a price that is fair and reasonable!
With the flat strap tether do you feel the need and how would you back that up? What is the hardware rated at? Looks allot more compact and would like to give it a try.
A backup is not needed with the tubular webbing tether. The Tether is more than strong enough on its own without needing a backup!
Need to provide links
They aren't too hard to find on our website but if you need help finding anything specifically, feel free to call us and we would be happy to help. Have a great New Years!
Do you suggest adding anything to protect the Amsteel where it goes through the small hole in the Muddy Pro?
It has not been a problem so far for us or any of our customers thus far.
What size amsteel ?
3/16 Full Bury
I just got my item and love it... After I got it tied on.. Just one suggestion... Do a new how to video going a bit slower (maybe having some stills edited in). Not all of us do this every day LOL
We will be doing a lot of videos this offseason showing how to attach or detach or tie on or take off a lot of different products we sell. Thank you for the suggestion!
Love to purchase a few items but Canada isn’t an option at checkout 😢
We are working on that. With as many products as we have it has been more difficult to get that particular problem figured out. Shipping to Canada will be available soon enough!
Received mine after waiting a couple weeks, still cannot get it tightened enough not to scare the hell out of me, simple prusix knot doesn't get tight enough for me. unsatisfied. Back to a ratchet strap I guess.
If you cannot get the H.F.A.S. tight enough on a stick, or a platform, something is being done wrong in the set up. The only complaint ever lodged against the H.F.A.S. is it get TOO tight, not the opposite. If you would like to email or call us we would be happy to try and help you figure out whats going on.
Looking at your products they seem very interesting
Love these tools.
#LFG
Where do you put your camera?
Either a separate bag or inside the pouch depending on the hunt.
I’d make people aware that if your climbing on any type of prussik and you drop your stick that you need to have a way to either tie a foot loop or something to get pressure off the prussik or I’d think you’d have to cut yourself loose. Just a thought.
3/16" for platforms?
3/16 Full Bury for platforms. The 3/16 LYTE version is for sticks.
You're applying the Kong to the rope in a much more difficult way than necessary. All you need to do is open it and swing it the opposite way from the one you did and it will pull the cam out of the way and leave it perfectly clear for the rope. You also should be passing the rope through the carabiner to adjust position. The whole point of that silver drum is for the rope to run along it so that you don't damage the rope or knock the cam by accident.
We hear you. We had KONG USA's rep out to the warehouse and he saw how we were using it and had no problem with it. You are correct though, the method of using it that you described is the proper way of doing it as shown by KONG.
I STILL THINK DAISY CHAINS ARE FASTER ON STICKS!!
If that is the way you feel, then you are correct. There isn't one right way and there isn't one wrong way. We have always said, and still do, that if you have a method that works for you, use that method! Good luck this upcoming season!
@@hangfreeco ABSOLUTELY, IM AMAZED AT HOW THIS PART OF THE SPORT HAS GROWN AND AT HOW PEOPLE FIND NEW AND FASTER WAYS OF DOING SOMETHING!! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
Wow I did not even know about you guys but I could tell just from this video that you know your stuff, and you are probably a company worth buying from in the future. Awesome video, awesome guy, awesome ropes.
We appreciate that!
To climb, I use a Madrock Safeguard for progress capture; and a 5.5mm Beal Jammy with a DMM revolver carabiner to create a crude 2:1 mechanical advantage. Tie a figure-eight knot in a Beal Jammy creating two loops; one large, one small. With the large loop, tie a three-pass Prussik friction hitch on the mainline. Position the Jammy figure-eight knot near the Prussik. Clip a DMM wire-gate revolver-carabiner into the Jammy; between the Prussik and the figure-eight knot. Install the Madrock Safeguard to the mainline about 16-inches below the Prussik. Route the tag end of the mainline (that exits upward from the Safeguard) up thru the revolver carabiner; resulting in the tag end exiting downward from the revolver carabiner creating a crude 2:1 mechanical advantage with a favorable (downward) direction of pull as a climbing assist. To rappel, I remove the Jammy & revolver carabiner.
What about that tree? You sell those? I'm only half-joking. Where do people get em? And how do they keep them from dying?
That tree isn't alive, we just never shaved the bark off. And getting it was a bit of a story in our case. The best way is probably knowing somebody with land that is willing to let you cut one down.
very impressed with these, you can tell how long you have hunted from how refined and simple most of these are at there core.
Thats our whole goal. We strive every day when we walk into the office to figure out how to make our customers lives easier!
Just ordered 4 today cant wait to use them. Definitely going to be faster than the daisy chain and truckers hitch I currently use
It will make a huge difference for you!
@hangfreeco got them in and have used them 2x but they are amazing man!!! Save me probably 10min climbing coming from daisy chain n truckers hitch...greatly made also I'll definitely be recommending you guys in the future thanks again
I’m guessing the 3/16” would be fine on the sticks for us larger guys that want a little buffer.
Yep. If you are a bigger hunter we do recommend using those 3/16 for your sticks. They work the same way so there is no learning curve!
How do I know what length Prussia tender?
Measure from the base of the prusik Knot to the top of the loop and go slightly less than that length.
What length rappel line? 20, 30, 40’
He runs a 30' line.
I like the sit 90 degree to put platform on. I will have to do that now on
ALSO you should tell your viewers that are NEW to climbing ,, they should always back any type of Ascender with a Figure 8 knot / Jam knot ..
I was wondering what Billy Bob Thorton had been doing with his time.
Great video. Any reason why your kits do not have a sewn eye option? I noticed all the kits have tied eyes on the ropes.
Sewn eyes will start to be available at the end of the year as well as new kit options. We are moving the sewing in house as the prices for sewn eyes are outrageous and we would not be able to offer customers good deals on the ropes. Our goal is always to get the best price for our customers.
Thank you for the quick reply! I am considering a Madrock system but really want a sewn eye. The only downside of the Madrock is 8mm Oplux being out of spec. That’s made me look at the F4 and also FCX. I see your kit offers 9.5mm. Is it a big difference in packability?
@@Chasen_The_Outdoors Once the 9.5 is used a couple times and is broken in it is very packable. 9.5 is slightly larger than the OpLux but it is very close in packability when broken in.
Is it 1/8 for sticks and 3/16 for the xop edge?
Generally speaking, yes.
