I played this once or twice as a teenager and thought it was insanely hard. It was at a friends house, so I never had much of a change to get a few levels in before dying.

Why were some weapons skipped over but the rifle picked everytime? Is it the ammo capacity in terms to damage?

Ever since I started playing the arcade version I can’t go back to the genesis/mega drive version lol. It’s slower, but definitely still fun

This game definitely inspired Mortal Kombat. The level designs, the freeze, the invisibility and the overall gruesomeness. It absolutely deserved a 2 players sequel like SF2 or MK.

Actually managed to finish this once or twice as a kid. The labyrinths were super frustrating and could often change the luck or fate of the play through.

It's such a dirty game. Beating the iron mask without cheating is almost impossible.

grew up with the shadow dancer games the arcade one and playing this at home; I always had some theory about the level 2 boss, in the original you fight a train, like as in Shinobi you battled a chopper. Perhaps their plans were to create a train boss, as you can see there are some railway tracks in the graphics, but maybe the specs couldn't handle it, so they changed their minds a turned the level 2 train boss into some generic wall demon.
