Great memories. The reel only holds the line, the rod fights the fish. Lift the fish with the rod, then reel down, repeat
He'll get there. This is a great example of fundamentals going to the wind when you hook into your first big one lol. It just happened to my dad, too. Hadn't fought a 10+ lber in a while, took him by surprise..big one that got away.
Teach the kid how to use a rod to fight a fish would ya. He probably doesn't know how to cast either. My four year old daughter does much better sheesh 🙄
I'm left-handed, my son is not. This was on one of my poles he isn't used to where the handle is on the other side. Thanks for watching!

@Sharkz241 It is. Lots of big catfish. You need a big boat to anchor in strong current like this, though. Most locals will drift their boats or just go bankfishing.
