Anyone looking to strengthen the frame on any g body ,, do exactly what he did to that frame, the rear cross member and the inner tubing that goes from the rear crossmember to the front makes it incredibly stiff ! It made the biggest difference in the world got 87 Monte Carlo, SS , and I had to learn the hard way I wound up with a few buckles in my roof and trunk floor

TH400 to LS requires a spacer and the cheap little round cap style ones are garbage. Sounds like you might have taco'd a rod. Sounds like maybe a piston touching the crank counter weight???

I didn't have any luck with the quick solder connections in a fuel tank. The fuel ate the solder and the connections fell apart. Hope they worked out better for you.
