Walking is your name
Beautiful sharing
Liked your thought process on storage. However I usually carry two SSDs on each of my trips to have at least two copies of my work. Once I go back home, I transfer the data from one ssd to another lower cost HDD which holds about 20TB. That would become my backup and I continue to access the images from the remaining SSD from Lightroom. But I like your idea of keeping one ssd dedicated per year. Do you just keep one copy of your work or keep in multiple places?
I actually shoot onto two cards in-camera, and I keep one SD card as additional backup up until the edit is done. Hope this helps.
Wow! Such a beautiful sight ! Love murmurations!!
ຮູບພາບດີ❤❤❤❤
Great shots - sure gave it a good thrashing!
Great! ❤
Thank you for your filming and commenting
Wow, how have I missed your video? Amazing daytime footage of mum and her cubs, really well done👏👏👏👏
thanks
Now that does surprise me. Is an otter not a predator?
Yes, I mostly observe them catching crayfish and small fish like bullheads, which they'll eat as they catch in the water. When they catch bigger prey (like trout) they need to land it to eat it.
How anyone could mix up swifts with any other bird is a mystery to me. They are a completely “other” species, and absolutely amazing.
Great to meet you yesterday. Just found your videos and site. Love this superb vid. Hope to bump into you again.
Thanks Geraint, great to meet you too, sure I'll run into you again over the Spring and Summer, hopefully lots more otter and kingfisher activity ahead!
Perfect timing for today’s snow and great tips! 👍
Hope you get some good shots! 📷
Great video and really helpful to see the images at the end. There's some stunning shots!
thanks, glad it proved useful
What lenses would you recommend?
It depends on what camera you're using and what sort of photos you're hoping to take. I wish I had taken a 70-200mm with me, but probably 100-400 would be a really great lens for Skomer. Enjoy your trip!
@@walking-photographer canon 90d . So APSC. My 150- 600 is just too unwieldy handheld. I was thinking 100-400mm would be good so thanks for your advice. 😊
Loved your video Rich. I have 2 days on Skomer to look forward to in May. Can't wait!
wow
Really enjoyed the video! Love those books!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Nice and beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. Big Like 32
Thank you 🙏
Well Rich, I just found your channel for the first time and this video was fab. Loved your shots of the Curlew and Puffins in particular and I immediately hit the ‘subscribe’ button. I so enjoyed this and I’m looking forward to your next video. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind comments and subscribing 🙏 glad you enjoyed the video
I've been lucky enough to visit Skomer on numerous occasions and it never fails to amaze me. Just love the place. Thanks for sharing your experience 😊 🙏
Yes, it’s really is breathtaking. Thanks for your comments 🙏
@@walking-photographer Have you managed to see the Short Eared Owls that breed on the island ?
@@stesmith7373 I did keep an eye out, and they had been spotted earlier in the year, but I didn't catch them during my visit
Nice one. Never seen a Puffin yet. I'm going to have to make that trip. Cheers
Thank you, yes, do, you won’t regret it! Thanks 🙏
Hello- you did wwell -💯
Excellent
Thanks for sharing your amazing video my friend...💕
Those images are just amazing
Thanks
Beautiful. I've never seen one before; we only get the swallow tailed kites
Keren banget 👍
What you said at the beginning reminds me of when I went night diving on the barrier reef and the guides said giant trevally had learned to hunt by divers flashlight so if you see something you like don't look at it for long because it will get eaten if you keep watching it.

Hi just wanted to stop by and thank you for the Bluebell workshop. Had a great time in a beautiful place and looking forward to practicing the techniques you kindly taught us all.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the walk. It was great meeting you and sharing a wonderful morning.
Excellent help there I shall implement that this year thank you so much - end of my messy system I hope
Thanks and great! So glad you've found it useful.
“Letting them come to you“ has been what works for me the best, but I don’t always have the patience. I do have a 200 mm macro which helps. My issue is getting the initial focus in order for the camera to then track
Feel so lucky have two housemartin nests, used to have four, also have a pair of swifts in my roof space, look forward to them coming every year🤩
wow, that is amazing! I've got swift boxes up for a few years now and hoping they will nest there one of these days!
A while ago I was surrounded by either house Martins or swallows they were flying over the grass near the houses do you think they were house Martins or swallows? It was a mesmerising sight. Here's a shortvideo I filmed of them. th-cam.com/video/rlLb07-nqaw/w-d-xo.html
You can get a mix of both sometimes hoovering up insects over fields and waterways. Looking at the video, I’d say was quite characteristic of swallows....
@@walking-photographer thanks that's great it's been bugging me for some time trying to identify them. They are so fast I couldnt get a good glimpse of them. I forgot to mention they also had white spots on their rails.
I live in 3 Great Pasture in Burley in Wharfedale, I had the 1TB Seagate Backup Plus Portable Memory Stick, I pulled it out without the safety removal by accident and I lost all my pictures and documents forever that I shouldn't do and I love the village, but I want to live away from my parents forever.
Absolutely loved your talks on walks they were fab
Thanks Karen, so pleased to hear that. There will be more in the future.
Hah😃 To the guy who's Talking on your video here~ you outta go back +watch!😃 I think it happens at 11:39 *Rite* when you make your hand motion, And *rite* at the place your hand is over (in the video) ---but is actually a ways out, in the water! 😁I love it. I feel like (the special little amazing moments that happen, like this) is a wink from God👆 ( ;
Wow, I hadn't even noticed :o great spot, thanks for pointing it out!

You forgot the magic Triangle
Thanks Richard. In these short vids, I focus more on my practical approach and try to avoid getting too technical... I do share the ideas behind the exposure triangle though in another video here though: th-cam.com/video/hLNoCN0O80A/w-d-xo.html :)
nice video, if you like go on my channel :)
Hope you enjoy summer😊🙌
Very good
Epic! Happy I came across your channel. Take a look at FollowSM . c o m!!! It is the best way to promote your videos.
I didn't understand the reason from going from enhancing the colour to the second process. I could see the benefit, but didn't hear why you felt it necessary/what prompted you to start the second process.
Thanks for your comment. If I understand you correctly... the 2nd part of the process, where I selected the trees by painting over them and then applied some tweaks to the selection, was to add a little more punch to the trees without effecting the rest of the scene. In the 1st stage I was enhancing saturation & vibrancy of specific colours. In the 2nd instance it was the general and overall saturation & vibrancy of the area I'd selected. In both instances I tried to keep the impact subtle. Hope this helps and answers your question.
