Silicone EARPLUGS in center differential has woken up my Maxx - Dutch RC Adventures #26
After one year, my Traxxas has gotten very weak in acceleration. When the front end took off, all the power went to my front wheels. The meant a loose center differential.
When the front wheels could rotate freely in the air, while the rear wheels were still stationary, was the moment for to look for an upgrade.
I heard about the silicon earplug upgrade instead of 20 million oil and thought to give it a try.
Wel…. This the biggest difference imaginable. It woke up my Maxx V2.
Have a look and see the difference.

Upgrade Maxx V2 with Hobbywing, 24/46 gearing and Louise MT Pioneer tires - Dutch RC Adventures #25
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
In this building video the Traxxas Maxx V2 gets upgrades. Stock VXL-4S ESC with 2400kv Velineon motor had already been swapped for a Hobbywing MAX8 V2 with a 2250kv 4278 sensored motor. Sensored, so very smooth throttle, and FUTURE 6S PROOF. The stock plastic gearing will be changed to a high speed 24/46 hardned steel gearing. And the Louise MT Pioneer tyres replaced the stock Sledgehammer tyre...

Traxxas X-MAXX - 1100KV THERMAL ISSUES?? - Dutch RC Adventures #17
มุมมอง 2.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
At last my 1100kv motor arrived together with the installation hardware. This Hobbywing EZRun motor will definitely improve power in your X-Maxx! With a top speed of 86km/h (52mph). Also at half throttle, I still have the power to pull wheelies with this RC. Only downside with this conversion is that the Max6 speedcontroller is constantly activating its programmed thermal cutoff. Which is good ...
Traxxas X-MAXX - Stock motor and 1100KV motor comparison - Dutch RC Adventures #16
มุมมอง 14K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video edit you will see the difference in an X-MAXX with the standard Velineon 1200XL versus an X-MAXX with a Hobbywing 1100kv motor. The x-maxx with the white body runs the stock motor and 20/50 ratio. The xmaxx with the black body runs the Hobbywing with a 20/35 ratio (M1.5) Hope this will give you an idea if the difference pays off! Also let me know what you think about the video!

Is it easy to flip with these Louis tires? Are they inflating (increasing in diameter)? Are they suitable for driving in the air or do you recommend other tires for this purpose?
I don't think I would go to the pharmacy and buy silicone ear plugs you're better off going with the Traxxas# 5040 20 million weight fluid I put this in the center diff of the Redcat vigilante what are difference yeah I'm a Traxxas fan using Traxxas products in a red cat to get it to wake up hahaha
Nice you need to change that front and back defferential with thicker oil to avoid that skid
What brand gears are theses?
Hot racing
How did you Mount The motor?
Helou frond a rear diff oil namber
I wish my super rock Rey was this easy to do
You havent uploaded videos recently. What happened? You quit?
How did u fix the ESC to the car!? Did you use the kit biadhesive inside the box?
the esc comes with a mounting plate. I have drilled one extra hole in this plate and used it to mount the esc to the maxx frame. no adhesive, mate!
🤟🤟🤟🤟
This combo work from 3s up to 6s im i right?
Yes, that is right. all tough 6s is al little overkill. couldn’t keep de Maxx straight
Tried it, no fan. Sure easier for backflips. But powerwheelies as a bat out of hell. Gonna buy a second diff and fill it with lighter oil and try "4s". Keep earplugs for 6s with hw max 8 g2 and 2250 motor. Any good ideas for bouncing over? Gotn 60w front, 70w rear. 15mm gap rear and 5mm front. It loves to flip over in jumps.
Does this basically lock the rear diff for more Posi trac?
Not exactly. It will lock the center diff more, so you won’t loose power to the front wheels during wheelie
Earplug in the rear diff does wonders too
I can imagine it will help in drifting as well 😉
Can’t be used a good quality grease?
Hi, I also have the Traxxas Maxx v2 in blue and the Louise uphill tires on it.
that is a great combination, mate!
Good Job. This is now my next mod for both my Maxx as well as my X-Maxx
How did that wake it up?
Before the modification, all the power went to the front wheels. Look close to the first couple of wheelies and compare to the last wheelies. You see that the front wheels are rotating far more than the back wheels.
@rcart76 Oh I see, nice!
😊
You know what the Stock Gearing is? i know that the Maingear is a 50T. Gear but i dont know the Stock Pinon Gear
Pinion is 23 stock
Yes, 23/50 is stock gearing on the Maxx V2. The V1 has 24/50 gearing as the tires are slight smaller.
i got a Maxx V2 as well but with the E Revo 2.0 Tieres and geting the Max8 G2 Kombo this Week you think that the Stock Gearing will Work?
It depends on the size of the Revo tires. Just try this at first, you can always gear up later. Just keep an eye on the temperatures
A little dialog would really help Good video though
actually I’m not the talking kind of person, but we’ll see perhaps kn the future. thanks for your comments
Hows temps with those gears n did u notice a big difference with new system
didn’t measure temps when I was out. good idea for next speedrun, thanks!
what was your top speed before you did the upgrades ??
When it was stock it was hitting 80km/h, so approx 50mph. So for now not a huge difference in top speed tbh
@@Dutch-RC-Adventuresget pigger battery over 6200mah. 3.8 wheels You can go higher speed the chart has the gear acceleration number that gear you put in accelerate 1.92 sec The stock 23/50 is 2.17 sec has high torque for bashing My maxx go 50 mph with 7200 mah
Those tires look way more aggressive.
not only the looks, but also way better in handling.
What spur and pinion are you using?
in this setup I am running 20/35 Mod1.5 gears
@@Dutch-RC-Adventures Thanks For The Reply
Nice video. Are you running 20/50 gearing with that max5 1100kv combo?
no, the black and white xmaxx are running with 20/35 Mod1.5 gears
✔️ "promosm".
Nice video running these machines.
Awesome video. Stay safe my friend.
What Gearing
Hi Nick, I am running a mod1.5 gearing. 20tooth pinion and 35tooth spur
What pinions you running? I think this is the combo I'm doing hobbywing 1100 and max 5 do you think that the best for bashing in dirt ??
I have changed to module 1,5 gears, with 20/35 ratio. this is perfect for loads of offroad fun.
6s looks great but almost looks like it's pushing hard. I assume less things break on 4s.
What about weight comparison? Lighter the better in terms of durability
You are right on that, HXR_RC. The extra weight will reduce the durability. But it is more the extra torque from the motor, which will demand a lot from your drivetrain.
need the max 5 for that setup, 29 42 does fine unless its already 100 outside,
I already did change to the Max5
so i got my xmaxx used been rebuilding it, would 20/50 be good for yard bashing but still going over 50mph when i feel like pushing it to the limits? i have a 22/50 but thought og going 25/50 or around 25 and still riunning a 50. stock 8s motor with max 5 on gens ace lipos if that helps at all and stock tires
hi Matt, the max5 esc wouldn’t be the the bottleneck, but when your are running high gearing your lipo’s could be an issue. the esc can draw 200amps from the lipos, so check the maximum discharge rate (C-rate) mentioned on your gens aces. also keep an eye on the temp of the motor I hope this helps you out!
Nice channel bud.
thank you!
I am now running 20 50 gearing, max 6 esc and stock 8s motor with duratrax six pack tires. It is fun but was so much better with the stock tires. Any idea what gearing would safely get me back to easy back flips?
Than you are running the same setup as mine in this video, Josh. Except for the tires, where mine are on Louise X-Pioneer. If your preference is just for the backflips, then you should gear down a little. Top speed would be less, but you have more momentum of the wheels in mid-air. I hope this would help!
Gear down
Or upgrade the ESC, which I did. Thanks for the comment👍🏻
@@Dutch-RC-Adventures Where you using a Max 6? I use a Max 5 with that motor 25/35 gearing. Triple backflips are available and little issues 👍.
I have upgraded my Max6 to a Max5 half a year ago. Big difference, I must say. I also am running 20/35 gearing, backflips are possible but never did triple backflip
HW 1100kv motor paired with the Max6 over here. I love it. Thanks for the comparison video!
Great, I hope you will enjoy it!
That 1100 motor is such a big upgrade I wasn’t happy at all with the stock xMaxx electronics.
Definitely faster but by how much losing toooo much traction on the sand hard to tell 😎👍🏻🇬🇧
Hi Rc Art. How are the temps on this set up now from the max6 esc and what diff pins have you used or they are still stock 🤔 💯thanks for sharing
I didn’t measure the temps at that moment, next time I will measure. The diffs are still stock. No problems so far, but some buddies of mine did strip multiple ring gears on the diff..
@@Dutch-RC-Adventures beast of a electric dept you have on your rig Rc ARt
My xmaxx is on max6 22/50. Motor is fried and thinking of the 1100kv upgrade. Is it worth the money/time to mod it? The 22/50 is already 50 mph and plenty fast.
In my opinion it is definitely worth to mod to a 1100kv. the extra power will result in higher top speed and faster acceleration! Keep in mind that your Max6 can shut down due to temperature protection. I have swapped my Max6 to a Max5. Either way, enjoy your X-Maxx!
@@Dutch-RC-Adventures thanks for the reply and warning! I went ahead and ordered the 1100kv :)
The shop suggested mod 1 30/54 gears. Not sure the ratios and hope it will be ok
Awesome video
Thanks mate!
What gears you running?
Currently I am running with Module1.5 gears. Pinion 20 / spur 35

Thanks for your nice comment! Currently I am running with Module1.5 gears. Pinion 20 / spur 35.
