So do your phones and your microphone emit microwaves? And if they don't, and what they emit is the result of any electric device emitting something, wouldn't the energy you measure the result of the fact that a microwave is an electric device itself? Did you perform the same measure with your electric stove, or your electric kettle? What has this to do with microwaves? You don't even tell us what frequency are you measuring!
One section are lower voltage than others and cut off earlier that's why voltage higher. Balance your battery first
Houdt Tupperware Microcook straling tegen?
sadly what was not touched on, was the pcb differences. I was wondering, if one could just upgrade weaker battery by replacing cells, or are there pcb differences that would keep it's performance back..
For more accurate result you’re supposed to use the endpoint of the unit the way you were holding it and using it isn’t the best way or recommended way by the manufacturer.
Thanks for pointing that out. I tried all the different orientations but did not see a big change in readings. Also, this was a lot easier for the camera angles. I’ll check out the manufacturer recommendations though - good point!
to any of you guys thinking of putting a geiger counter or something in the microwave itself, dont fucking do it, in writing this comment right after i fucking blew up my gmc320 thinking i would get some crazy high reading in the microwave. dont be stupid like me.

Excellent and informative video. Like others who have commented, I quite like a more modest charge rate when time allows. So the standard charger gets the most use with the smaller capacity batteries I tend to use. I own standard and rapid chargers. Thanks again.
Thank you! I hope to make more videos again soon. :)
Think the discrepancy with the display is because the cell balance is out. But your overall voltage is the same. Love your video thank you
Thank you! One of these days I hope to find time to make more. So many batteries, so little time. Appreciate the comment :)
ANYBODY HAVE A NEW MILWAUKEE DRILL M12 BATTERY EXPLODE WHEN IN USE?
HORRIBLE TEST, this guy is making WAY TOO many assumptions and assertions. Anyone who ACTUALLY works with electricity on any capacity (not just on paper) knows there will always be a voltage variances for LIKE ITEMS. That’s just the way it is
Wait till you measure the heat coming off your food. Your food is radioactive theres a reason stomache/digestive tract cancer are so prevailent
Grow Grow Grow, Grasshopper! 😊
honestly i think it's probably fine, definitely pushing the limits, think if you put one of those small batteries on a grinder it would last probably 2 minutes or so, it would be hot, you just discharged all that energy in that time, if it can charge in in what seemed to be around 15 minutes by what you said, thats power going out at approximately 6 times the rate, if you look at a lot of lithium batteries for vehicles and boats they might have a 100amp discharge and 50 amp charge rating, thats 2x discharge rate, i know its not the same thing but id say it probably is fine, and most likely a lot of specs are just precautions and probably overexagerated from manufacturers, some days here are 36c so the battery would likely be too, especially if its in the sun, then you use it and heats it up itll be 40-45c probably, i'm sure it is ok, maybe the battery will only last 5 years instead of 6 or something, its awesome to see you test all this stuff though because how else would we know. love the channel its just my 2cents don't stop doing this stuff because its very interesting.
I appreciate the words of encouragement. I have an XMAXX and I actually put a clamp meter on that thing and measured a peak draw of 2kW. Comparing took batteries to a 6S or 8S pack might be pretty fun! Great idea. The issue though is that we’re comparing LiPo packs to these guys that can’t handle that level of power. Let me do some homework and that sounds like a fun topic to discover. Thanks again!
When I run my 12 AH battery on my vacuum, the slow blink happens when I can hear the vacuum starting to bog down, and it’s usually my warning that I’ll need to swap batteries soon. Once it starts blinking rapidly, it’s dead and needs to be charged.
The 2.5 has more power than the 1.5?
great source of info regarding power/battery usage, cheeRs
Wonder if the board counts how many cycles of charges.
Moral of story....buy extra batteries and save $200 on Super Charger for Rapid...
I like the channel. Nice job on the video. Hope to see more m12 and m18 discussion. Also curious as to if they would be easily modified for even better batteries?
Thank you! I need to find the time to record and post more. The batteries can be swapped, but what gets challenging is the electronics and communication. Without that, the BMS will shut down all current.
For context, a typical incandescent night light bulb is around 4 watts, and most (well over 90%) of that energy is converted to heat. So, if you were to build a box with 4 square meters of surface area around a night light, the amount of heat put it off would be similar to the amount of microwave energy coming out of that oven.
Great test
Fr is flame retardant , will not support a flame
Does the 3.0 XC have 6 1500 milliamp cells ?
I haven’t taken one apart, but that would be my guess as well. The current delivery of the XC 3.0 is likely significantly better than the CP 3.0 too.
I had a Hitachi microwave, and when the Ukraine invasion started, I was afraid of a possible nuclear accident. With my GMC320 (Geiger counter), radioactivity began to rise, and I discovered that it was coming from my microwave! I recorded 70 cpm inside the microwave.(unpluged) The natural radioactivity in my region ranges between 15 and 25 cpm. How is this possible ?
The magnetron contains radioactive elements.
so what charger is the best for battery life
I'm only at the start of the vid - but I heard the 3.0s are really crap - so I got the 2.5 HO with the tool, gonna report back after my tire change in October!
I’ve had decent luck with both. However I’m just a home user and don’t use my tools nearly as much as many. Thanks :)
This channel would be the perfect compliment to the torque test channel. A deep dive into all the various batteries out there. You have your work cut out for sure. Nice work 👍
Haha, thanks. I copied their name :) I need to find time to do it on top of the day job and, well, life. Some day!
Can you do a video about China made vs mexico made batteries please
Any plans to tear into the 5.0 HO?
I think it’s pretty similarly designed. I do have one and I think the 5.0 is a fantastic battery. I have been busy moving and with other life events unfortunately but my view of the 5.0 is favorable. It seems to have just as much power as the 6.0 in my preliminary testing, and when loaded heavily, I expect it to beat the 6.0. This is a guess, but I will have to test it. I think maybe cutting some hardwood with a circular saw might be the best bet? I have the saw, just need to get around to testing.
3:32 you completely skipped a crucial detail, what was the size of the security torx screw?
T10
What about if you cook food inside the microwave them test the food for radiation?
Microwave radiation is not ionizing radiation, there are no ionizing particles. The moment you cut power, the microwave radiation stops. It doesn't leave behind any particles.
As Brendon said, it is simply energy so the food is just fine. It will be overheated in some parts, and cold in some parts, so foods sensitive to high heat will not be in great shape, but it isn’t dangerous.
@@BatteryTestChannel okay
That's my battery that you found....
Does it leak out of just the crack or the entire door? How far back does it leak to???
Great video! Thank you for your work. Exactly the info I was looking for. 2.5 definitely my favorite M12 battery. I feel like the bigger ones defeat the purpose of the slim nature of M12 tools, at which point if I need a bigger battery might as well go M18 for that specific tool
Great to hear that it was helpful :) I agree. The 2.5 packs a punch and the 6.0 is a workhorse.
Some truth there but not completely. I have both platforms M12 and M18. I find myself reaching for the M12 tools first unless I need big power, which isn't often. M12 allows me to carry more than twice as many tools in a box or bag because of that fat ass slide pack flange on the M18 tools. And pulling them out of a bag is aggravating because the battery flanges always interlock with other tools. I carry a bag of M12 batteries and a bag of tools in my truck at all times. Having the higher output of the XC packs made/makes a huge difference. The foot print of an M12 XC pack isn't even CLOSE to an m18 pack. But again, it's not so much the pack itself, when you take the battery off an M12 tool, it's tiny again and ready to pack. M18? Not so much. Don't get me wrong, I love the M18 tools. But I use the M12 stuff probably close to 90% of the time.
@@mikemorgan5015 Thanks for the perspective Mike. I don’t work with tools for a living so that’s a good point!
can you turn a basic charger into a rapid charger?
Well, the internal components aren’t the same since they put out different amounts of power so I doubt it. Depends on how badly you want to make it work I guess!
Monitoring the battery temps during the charging is the only thing I wished you had also done. Maybe a round two?
I did monitor temps and did not find an appreciable difference. I even charged the batteries “naked” and did time lapse testing with IR cameras but it really wasn’t much to report on so I just skipped it. The smaller batteries do heat up a lot more and warrants a video… eventually!
So… I shouldn’t have spent the last 27 years with my forehead against the microwave door as I watch the food? Lol
💀…..
And imagine all the cheap ones off Amazon made by god knows who.
now . im using the 2.5ah and 5ah . they have much more power than old one. i said to my work mate " watch out for the torque on 10mm bolt or nuts.
hi. where are you? I actually put the batter and torch togater in a bin other day. I was really upset about the torch, beause it didn`t stand and keeps rolling on the floor. and i smashed on the floor and still working . and i decied to let him go. this is stupid battery and torch setup. Im not gonna use that again.
I’m using the standard charger on all my batteries 2.0-12.0. I can wait and they will last much longer
Hi,do the rapid charger charge the normal m18 and m12 battery.
Hello. Yes, the rapid charger will charge all M18 and M12 batteries, but significantly quicker. I think it’s the ideal charger from the lineup!
My battery light flashes quickly but when I put it in the charger the led is green immediately. All the cells measure 4.2v
background music sucks make videos with no music that is the best route if you want a little of music in the intro, that is fine but in the whole video, that is annoying
Thank you for the feedback!
and what is radiation level at half a meter from the microwave oven? not many people would be sticking their head right on the door of the microwave as it is running
Do you recommend warming up the car before driving ??
No, not recommended. In winter idle it for 30s or 60s when very cold and start slowly driving.
I always warm up my car for atleast 1 minute in the non-winter months. During winter, I usually let it warm up for minimum 5 minutes. Oil works best when fully warmed up, and all the metal in your engine needs to somewhat warm up before taking load without scoring cylinders walls.
Learned a lot, thanks
im sure i did look closely when i was cooking cake as a kid a few times but defo i need to check that microwave now many years later
How did you remove the cells from the red casing?
They’re are a couple of different types of M12 packs. The newer ones have a single T10 screw in the bottom that can be removed and the pack pretty much falls apart. The older ones are a doozy - you have to pry and damage them to get them apart. 100% pain.
@@BatteryTestChannel but for the newest model with a screw on the bottom, how are you able to remove the battery cells from the red stem? Do you just smack it out or do you use a pry to push it out
@@ChrisBranleh Oh yea it’s just friction fit in there. Hold it in your hand like a fat pencil, and strike a surface with your palm. It’ll come out. Definitely snug, but it’ll just slide out!
