Definitely grew up in the wrong era. Just looks like a bunch of friends dancing and listening to good music. None of this ‘I’m so cool’ pretentious rubbish that needs to be filmed and posted to instagram every 5 mins alongside of soundtracks of jump up drum and bass etc.

People having a good time in the late 80's. Wish I'd been around back then. I was born in 94, so this is before my time. What I really love is the fashion from back then. Even just a white t-shirt tucked into some light loose fitting jeans is such a nice look. Better than all these stupid ultra tight jeans that other blokes my age seem to like wearing nowadays. Sometimes I wonder if they actually think they look good or if they only wear them because it's what all their mates wear and deep down they all wish they had the courage to try something different. I was 14 and lived in the "country" (Coulsdon). I was allowed to go to Tiffanys Purley on a Sunday as it finished at 10.30/11? and I could walk there and back with my friends. The first time I went was winter 78. I wore beige cords and a fully cream jumper. The first tune I heard was Sylvester's Mighty Real and then the real funk stated and I just stood with my mouth open at the calibre of dancing I saw. I wanted so much to emulate the moves but it took months of practice in my room to even begin to get some rhythm. I went out that week and bought new clothes to wear the following Sunday ... pegs, diamond tank top, college shoes. I wore the same stuff for weeks as they took all my savings. I lived for Tiffanys and then somehow I got to the Royalty one night with some South London people. I still don't know how I managed that! And then we bunked off school and got the bus to Crackers! OMG! Such happy memories and the music!!! I showed this footage to my 17 year old daughter and she said she wished she had been there.
Me to. I was in Purley, used to walk to Tiffany's, still had orchid ballroom tickets. Went first when I was 16, pretending I was 19. Remember the revolving stage. Probably first went in 78

Reminiscing and came across this. Reminds me of the good old days as a lad in the UK. The Royalty in Southgate, dark and with sweat dripping off the ceiling, Epping Forest Country Club on a Monday night and having to get up for work the next day. The Gold Mine, Froggy, Chris, Greg and all the other Fab DJ's and clubs. I grew up in the good days and as a white boy, could hold my own on the Dance Floor. Fantastic music and great dancers. Pity we don't have much footage from those days. Excellent and thanks for the memories.
