Honeslty I don't mind them doing something new with LOTR, but unfortunately anything they tried to do with a lower budget, introducing new characters and such fell flat. I'd say Hobbit movies were good!

We are living in weird times when people are very sensitive, and this might be a sign of the producers trying to appease certain groups. With this already being a done deal there’s nothing we can do, but frankly I wasn’t aware that Tolkien wrote more about Helm Hammerhand! If Hera is the “unnamed daughter” then the choice to focus the story on her is even more weird 😬

The Return of the King, LoTR Appendix A, Annals of the Kings and Rulers: The House of Eorl Then it turns into a whole out war when the Dunlendings led by exiled Wulf are attacking, and in the same time the infamous Long Winter sets in...so severe and harsh that Rohan and all the lands are under ice and snow for 5 months (hell a variation in the title using The Long Winter would have also been much cooler title of the movie rather than the very generic War of the Rohirrim...sure this particular conflict is not named per se but it's hardly just a war of the Rohirrim...since it also coincides (or rather is designed) to be in combination with the great attack of Haradrim and Corsairs of Umbar on Gondor! "...the Long Winter began with cold and great snows out of the North and the East which lasted for almost five months. Helm of Rohan and both his sons perished in that war; and there was misery and death in Eriador and in Rohan." RotK, Appendix A, I, iv, Gondor and the Heirs of Anarion, "The Stewards" "...and Rohan lay under snow for nearly five months (November to March, 2758-9). Both the Rohirrim and their foes suffered grievously in the cold, and in the dearth that lasted longer. Three great fleets, long prepared, came up from Umbar and the Harad, and assailed the coasts of Gondor in great force; and the enemy made many landings, even as far north as the mouth of the Isen. At the same time the Rohirrim were assailed from the west and the east.... One night men heard the horn blowing, but Helm did not return. In the morning there came a sun-gleam, the first for long days, and they saw a white figure standing still on the Dike, alone, for none of the Dunlendings dared come near. There stood Helm, dead as a stone, but his knees were unbent. Yet men said that the horn was still heard at times in the Deep and the wraith of Helm would walk among the foes of Rohan and kill men with fear." The Return of the King, LoTR Appendix A, Annals of the Kings and Rulers: The House of Eorl So I would sooner imagine an animated movie about him...being a proper story even if tragic one ending with his death....more in style of say that animated Beowulf movie (the weird animation style non-withstanding :)).

Thats a very interesting perspective! I am probably the guy that can argue both sides. The anime medium is very popular these days.Demon Slayer The Mugen Train and the most recent Blue Lock movies have had some good traction in theaters outside of Japan. Every day I hear from more and more people that I would've never thought would be into Anime, about the anime shows they're watching. On the other hand I can't see this adaptation being a succes on the level of any of the LOTR movies, winning oscars etc.- because like you said - a lot of people won't like the anime part of it. So doing this the producers are kind of boxing themselves in, into a production with less of a box office success potential. BUT I would love to proven wrong :D - Thanks for taking your time to drop a comment - I really enjoyed it!

Yea I see where you're coming from. It will definitely NOT be the same as LOTR, but at least for me, having seen Vinland saga (recomment to anyone who wants to see a different face of anime) I know it can be done right. For now all we can do is wait and see!

I don't think it's the look. It's the vibe. But recently Frieren pulled it off by giving similar vibes to Lord of the Rings. But that's because of the talent behind the show. If this team can also do something similar it would be great.
