Wood Inlay of a Kitchen Door
This shows how to take an ordinary kitchen door and turn it into a work of art by inlaying the door with a pattern. I chose a Geisha image and used LightBurn to translate the image to a vector, to use with my laser. The video tries to show all processes from start to finish.. no pun intended

I also added sensors that can be used to trigger the sequence.

    Do you use any offset on the veneer pieces to compensate for the width of the laser cut?

    • @paulszudzik9588
      @paulszudzik9588 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I generally do not. It seems to work well for me that I cut ON the line, which by itself seems to give me what I need. Most of my pieces just drop right in. However, that may not be the case for every laser out there. Mine is a 100 watt CO2 laser.

    HI Paul. I love this idea! Another way to get your designs into Bambu Studio is to export them as an SVG if that is an option. Bambu can import these 2D files directly and automatically extrudes them to 3D. Then just scale the Z dimension to the desired thickness.

    • @billwestrick343
      @billwestrick343 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1/32" is about 0.8mm which is no problem for a 3D printer. Standard layer height for 3D printers is 0.2mm so this would be just 4 standard layers.

    Those are some very beautiful boxes! What do you use for finishing the insides? I am yet to find a finish that works well for me when making boxes. Tried Poly, Arm-r-seal, Danish oil, even Osmo. Regardless of the product, with the box closed, the inside accumulates a lingering smell even 2 months later.

      @@ivobe9985 Most of the time I use clear lacquer, however for that box, I used Beeswax and orange oil. For all my boxes, I leave them in the shade outside for at least three days, open, to allow the finish to release their vapors. Sometimes, most of the time, that works for me.

      @paulszudzik9588 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you read some of my other comments, I am not using that jig anymore, it has a few issues ( The old jig ). However, tear out is a common problem. What I tend to recommend is that when you use a backer board, always start a new slot, don't re-use a slot from a previous run. Second, don't force the board through the bit, that will surely result in a tear out. Third, I recommend that the backer board be at least as hard as the wood you are cutting,. Fourth, make sure your bit is sharp and new. A dull bit will tear out as well.
