I just came back from seeing them in Cardiff. Truly awful, they managed to take everything that is wonderful about The Beatles and throw it all away to create noise. Several people left within the first 20 minutes. I wish I could have been one of them!

Saw them at The Orchard, they were a lot better. I think they should give Cathedral's a miss. Sound Systems in there rubbish . Listening to that must have been 'A Hard Day's Night'....

A reminder that not everything was better in the past, however its nice that one of the most famous people in the world could still appear in public without a scrum of press, public and security. I sometimes wonder why people are so hysterical about celebrity these days? The best I can come up with is the post-Hello! magazine obsession w/famous people qua famous people. Previously they'd only appear in the papers or the TV when they had new work to promote, and the idea of photographing a famous person just walking the streets was seen as ludicrous. Over here the Mail took it up first, when they started planting paparazzi outside fashionable restaurants and publishing the results in their 'Headliners' (was it? Private Eye still do a parody of it anyway) feature in the Mail on Sunday. I consider the Mail on Sunday as the most important new Britiah publication since 1980, unfortunately. Middle England changed from a Daily Telegraph to a Daily Mail country, understandable if you see the Telegraph today, but with an attendant frivolity and lack of empathy. We reap what we sow. We've also adopted a number of American attitudes (audience whooping, child actors actually being able to act, overweight poor people etc).
