Kanchouth or gauri tritya is celebrated in chenab region of jammu Kashmir (doda, bhaderwah, kishtwar, ramban) by married women who dress up in bridal attire, fast and pray for the long life of their husbands. The festival symbolises the divine union of Shiv and Parvati. The fasting ends after a pooja that usually happens in the evening. After which married women offer their respects (“thel”) to everyone irrespective of age and gender and seek blessings.

I shifted to a town and then to a city for education. The quality of education in these areas is extremely poor
