Hi welcome to my TH-cam channel. I have been hiking, camping, and exploring areas through out the southwest parts of the United States for more than 50 yrs. In 2007 I volunteered to take international students from the University of New Mexico on hikes through out New Mexico. Its a win win for all. I have a network of students to share my hikes and they have a guide for free. Each semester I meet new students. I love my times with the students and the many hikes I have shared over the years with them. I also like to travel on my own part of the time. This is what my channel is about. I had never shared my hikes publicly and I just started in September 2023.

This video was from last year. Thats in the middle of town. Not sure if it burned but I do think it got destroyed by the recent floods.

Did you cross the stream about 7 times?
You may be thinking of the Las conchas trailhead. This is trail 138 heading into the east fork waterfalls on top of the ridge. 3/4 of the way we do hike down into the canyon and walk the rest of the way in the river to get into the box canyon where the waterfalls are at. Its a fun trail if you dont mind getting wet. Most of the students enjoy it. 😀
@@DavesHikesNewMexico I am thinking about the trail where you can jump off a cliff into the water. It is the trail to the bottom of the jump off point. I don't remember the name but it is around East Fork in the Jemez.
@@Catlily5 Yes this is one of the trails. This one is on top of the ridge and is #138. The one you are talking is in the bottom of the canyon towards the left. I prefer this one, than we drop into the box canyon. I find it more challenging and scenic.

I went once. It was raining off and on.
It rains there most afternoons. That's why its so green. I need to go back and hike the continental divide trail there. Maybe in late august with a couple of international students from UNM.
You can almost forget that you are in the city.
😂Yes! surrounded by city life but it feels like been out in the wilderness. My place to go when I don't want to travel too far and still disconnect from the rat race.
That is a lengthy hike in those elevations!!! 😊
Most of the nice trails in New Mexico involve lots of climbing unfortunately 😂

I wish I would not get tired! This is a 2000 ft elevation hike, and I thought I was going to die at the 1500 ft mark. 🤣I was happy to climb down after resting for about 20 minutes. It was my fault. I did not eat enought for this hike.
