I was there on opening night and it was the greatest cinematic experience of my life. I remember vividly how eerily quiet it was during this whole sequence. The tone shifted very quickly from shock to sadness to excitement at the end. It truly was a moment I will never forget.

Wow, I can't believe that 2025 is the 10th Anniversary year of The Force Awakens. I always had mixed feelings about The Force Awakens, it was a lackluster sequel to the first three Star Wars films from 1977 to 1983, and the opening sequence was the absolute best part of this film. The Force Awakens is still a way more entertaining film than Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny and I hate The Dial of Destiny more than The Force Awakens.

1:16 will never not give me goosebumps. Luke's daring dive off the plank, then recovery as his weapons soars through the air, the music building and building until it lands squarely in his waiting hand. So damn iconic.

The beginning of this short piece of music is reminiscent of "Ben-Hur."

Interesting... I never caught the two slight bits of "Luke & Leia" followed immediately by "Han Solo & The Princess" in there.

That opening is so incredibly powerful, it sucks me in everytime without fail. Those pounding drums and that bombastic, powerful rendition of the Force theme, hammering in the desperation of the situation, as the two ships desperately race into the battle to save the Republic. Everything about it is so insanely impressive. I think it might actually be my favorite opening of the entire franchise, only rivaled by the original movie's opening shot.

An amazing movie that will get the recognition it deserves much later. Also, one of the best JW scores for a star wars movie.
