Palantine Chapel of Palazzo Reale Palermo
Beautiful chapel in the Royal Palace of Palermo, Sicily. The palace dates back to the 9th century when it was a Norman Donjon (keep or dungeon). The chapel dates to King Roger and his Angevin successors, who created a new style of architecture, Arabo-Norman, taking elements from Arab architecture (compare the honeycomb roof elements and arches to those in former mosques of Cordoba and Granada like the Mesquite in Cordoba) and dark age Western Europe (basilica style floor plan with niches for religious art and reliquaries, gold coloration to wall and ceiling decor like in St Marks Venice to mimic Byzantine art).

Punic (Carthaginian) Warship in Marsala Archaeological Museum

My bad on the 'prow', found out shortly after that belongs to another ship. The Punic warship is suspected to have been sunk in the last battle of the first war, when the Roman navy tried to cut the supply line to Lilybaeum from Carthage and force the city to surrender after 9 long years of siege. Based on plates, paint, and other things (inscriptions for example) the best guess is that the shi...

Temple of Ba'al on Mozia

Sorry for the crummy audio, the wind plus an umbrella to protect from sun made for a lot of muffling. Anyway, to my point about the crop fertility/marriage/childbirth goddess marrying the storm/water/death god... Zeus and Hera (also Zeus and any woman divine or not, including Demeter), Jupiter and Juno, Astarte and Ba'al (originally associated with ground water and storms, he replaced Bel as su...

I love that she has likely done this talk 100s of times but is just as enthusiastic.

Another great artist to check out from the workshop: Sonja Howard. See some of her works here: instagram.com/sonsationalcreations/
I really need the clay recipe please!
i could be wrong but i think she’s using something called pal tiya
@@emilyg927 I think you're right as I remember she mentioned it was a form of quick drying cement clay. I found a few other videos on youtube that feature Kim's work mention the material. Not sure if she has a channel here though. I was more focused on the hot glue and foil bits at the time so I'm sorry this isn't the definitive answer you were looking for.
Such a good video! I could watch her speak and explain for like hours in a row!
Cement based clay, rubber fibers and water is what she uses as the clay
@@emilyg927cement based clay with rubber fibers and water is the mix I just watched another video and she tells you that's what she uses 😊
