"At this past April's New York Music Awards, They Might Be Giants took the stage of the Beacon Theater wearing what looked like rolled-up carpets for hats, performed two [three, really] songs (including their MTV video hit, "Don't Let's Start") and promptly picked up the award for "Best Rock Band (Independent or Unsigned)." Whether you agree with that honor or not (after all, they did beat out ...

"Flansburgh has a Sinatra thing. He's really into Sinatra. I remember when the Kitty Kelly book came out about Sinatra, he read it right away. He's just got this thing about 'what it means to be Sinatra'. He's very interested in the phenomenon. So, 'Pal Joey' was part of that. He really liked 'Pal Joey,' and he decided he wanted to do some of the songs from 'Pal Joey' one night." - Bill Krauss ...

Just a quick note about this recording: Although the lighting isn't great and the video's been compressed to shit by TH-cam, this is the earliest, full, available Nine Inch Nails concert video recording (and the only video recording of Kinda I Want To), so it's a pretty cool piece of history. Also, the audio isn't half bad. 0:00 Ren And Stimpy Intro 0:25 Title Screen 0:48 Hate 1990 Intro 3:28 T...

"here John, take the mic, I dont need it"
I'm surprised but also not surprised it was changed. I'm definitely glad they changed it, because that first few seconds were... uncomfortable to say the least. Which makes me wonder why they didn't use this version on the youtube free with ads. Is TH-cam racist?
Eu estava na grade, que saudades desse dia
Grrrrrrr.... it took 10 years to share this, and I'm not even sure that I like it.
@@sneakywan Not my recording, and I wasn't that big of a Nine Inch Nails fan until 2019.

This director's cut of "The Devil's Advocate" is far superior to the original.
Great share - is this the same one as from "The Fragile: Deviations 1"
Yes.
I do love the homage & preservation of Real Jass/Jazz.
linnell is so cute
Danny elfman is great voice acting as bonejangles from corpse bride
dale looks so young wtf
probably because he is young
@@TitanicFog yeah it just feels weird to see him younger compared to the others (as in strange to see him young *especially*, not that he is younger than the rest of them), and it's strange to see him so lively as well. i think because he has always had this very older, disciplined aura about him.
it's amazing that someone not only recorded this, but kept it for 50 years. It's the equivalent of a film from 1927 being watched in 1977. And the influence of the silent era/30's Hollywood golden era is evident here, plus the just formed punk explosion of art and noise. . Also weird is that Danny Elfman has put stated that this era was "embarrassing ". Who knew that Elfman could play the violin so well. All of this lead up to his career in film scoring .
Thanks for sharing this. It’s absolument superbe!!
Vrenna is a badass drummer
thank u SO MUCH for this it was cool and unexpected to listen to new york city

I came just to check it out since it seemed interesting from another link...and I seriously can't stop watching! Thanks for the entertainment
Thanks for posting! Could I try de-interlace this source for you? It would help improve the picture quality!
Yeah, that would be great! Shoot me a DM in Discord and we can see if we can put it through Topaz, etc, and try to get it to look better. There's also an audio source for the 1975 KVST-TV appearance that doesn't have skipping. I've been meaning to try to remaster the DVD.
YUUUUUUCK. (sorry trent, I know you gotta do everything.this was still awesome.)
what
I am astounded! For 50 years I’ve been thinking about that Sam Phipps note-perfect Coleman Hawkins Body and Soul…and here it is. First saw MKOB in 72 or so for 99 cents at a weird storefront on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. They remain among the fondest (and most powerful) memories of my early adult LA days
Wow, the Mystic Knights in 1972! That's when they had professional dancers, two female singers, acrobatics, and sword swallowing, way before these videos.
@@TitanicFog well..do t remember the sword swallowers, but I do recall: ape suits and cavemen, Thus Spake Zarathustra, a winsome nude girl running thru the audience, smoking and sparking spaceships, Danny E. Doing a superb Minnie the Moocher, a gamelan serenade, and, of course, Sam Phipps in a nutty Chinese costume striding up the aisle playing ear-splitting Albert Ayeresque free jazz for several minutes, silence, then Body and Soul. Over fifty years ago and still vivid in my memory. Of course, my friends and I were probably totally ripped, but still….
@@TitanicFog well…I don’t recall sword swallowers, but I DO recall ape suits and caveman suits and Thus Spake Zarathustra; Danny E doing Cab Calloway to perfection; a smoke-spewing rocket ship; a winsome nude girl running thru the audience; a gamelan serenade; and of course, Sam Phipps, impossibly tall, wearing a craze Chinese costume, striding up the aisle playing ear-splitting Albert Ayleresque free jazz fir several minutes, then, silence, followed by a perfect Body and Soul. @@garyp.handman5922 If you saw Sluggo, you probably saw the Mystic Knights in either 1973 or 74. That sounds like an incredible show!
I love this weird shit, I would never say it out loud, they already see me as a weirdo just because I looked scruffy... Danny understands me
thanks, finding rare ootage of Boingo feels like the first time you hear them
This is so freaking great. Thank you for sharing this.
Anyone know what year this was? Mid 1970s?
Check the description. First 30 minutes are from May 1975. Last hour and a half are from December 1977.
In addition to xtc, there are also the members of ub40 when they were just starting their career.
just getting all the instruments and costumes etc and people to implement them was an enormous accomplishment

I finally got around to watching forbidden zone (as a gen z kid and long time fan of Danny Elfman and his work as well as Richard's). Gotta admit it took a minute for me to like it but the film definitely grew on me pretty quick. I definitely think this film should've been given a lot more recognition.
I’ve been wanting to watch it for awhile. Haven’t been able to find it streaming anywhere, so I’ll probably have to buy it to watch it.
@@HabitualJoker I watched it on Tubi! It does have adds unfortunately but it was completely free
Where can I watch it? (Sorry for my bad english)
