Let's see, I had the LP twice(was a kid, scratched up the first one) then I had to have worn out 3 cassette tapes, 2 times as a CD, and then last the remaster, a catagory on its own! Under the Rose and Only You were my favorite. I would play "I" psyching myself up for football and wrestling, So helped my confidence back then.

What a great Album!

I think opinions of the Elder really depend on your overall taste in music OUTSIDE of Kiss. I love it, but I listen to a lot prog stuff and Kiss is probably the most mainstream band I listen to so I really the Elder. But if you're more of a straight forward classic rock fan then it might not be for you. But for me The Oath is a gem, along with Under the Rose.

The Elder didnt sell because it was Kiss trying to make something beyond their scope. Get over it already. It isnt a great album. It isnt a classic and the poor sales say it all. If it were truly 'great' sales of it would jump by hundreds of thousands but they havent. Can we move on already? 🙄

Paul’s voice here, while noticeably struggling, is still relatively passable. It’s so sad to think that just 3-4 years later, his voice got so bad that they felt the need to use tapes.

Have been a fan since 1975 Bought the album the day it was released. I was greatly disappointed considering the two previous releases. It still is not a favorite of mine. I guess I'm in the minority.

Eric worked his ass off on that song. Well done. Can't say too much about the vocals......

I love Paul, but Paul or especially ACE, constantly bashing "The Elder" gets as old as Paul's voice and Ace's bickering. "The Elder" was awesome! Wahi' Valleys

Elder is incredible. Loves it as a kid, love it more as an adult. It aged very well

Ahora es tarde para decir estas cosas, ya que lamentablemente la banda que amamos despreció siempre éste disco, quizá Gene no quiere hacer esas armonia de voces agudas, solo quiere ser el macho de "I Love it Loud" Siempre que Kiss dio un paso adelante estuvo Bob Ezrin, aveces ellos mismos no lo aceptaron

Love this! People need to stop comparing The Elder with other albums! Just throw it in its own category and its amazing! Eric Carr’s drumming on this was awesome, thanks Singer for pulling it off so beautifully so we can actually cherish it!

In 1981,this album wasn't been received by the Kiss' fans. Nowadays, this album it's a golden souvenir.

My honest opinion about the Elder? The people that could have made it work weren't born yet or very young children. You know, I would love to see what guys like Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish could do to any of The Elder songs to reimagine them the way The Elder should sound.

I know it will never happen but they should write a sequel to the Elder then release 1 and 2 as a double album on vinyl with all the old style artwork and inserts like back in the day. THAT would sell with true KISS fans. You could charge $50 for an album like that.....
