The Advanced Water Heating Initiative is working to realize the significant carbon and energy savings potential of heat pump water heaters.
The Advanced Water Heating Initiative (AWHI) aims to scale heat pump water heater (HPWH) installations by shaping policies, building demand, bringing products to market, and educating the supply chain. Our mission is to make HPWHs universal in every home and business.
AWHI is a member-funded collaborative of building owners, utilities, federal agencies, state and local governments, manufacturers, engineers, installers, advocates, researchers, and building industry professionals from across the U.S.

The second stop of Joe's heat pump water heater tour across America was in Chicago where the nonprofit Elevate showed him an installation at a Bickerdike affordable housing location called La Paz. This commercial heat pump water heater was one of the first to be installed in a cold climate.

This is the best tour I've ever seen! Made in America too!!
We've had a GE Geospring heat pump water heater since 2015. A year or two ago the heat pump portion of the water heater stopped working and I have not been able to get it repaired (still under warranty, but parts-only and GE (now serviced by Bradford White) via local plumber have not been able to get it to work). So far they have not been willing to replace the whole unit. Every time they send parts I have to pay a plumber to see if it fixes the problem (a couple hundred dollars a pop). Fortunately the non-heat-pump side of the water heater still works so we are not totally out in the cold. I am looking towards replacing this unit (since Bradford White won't under warranty) with the "latest and greatest" and look forward to seeing and hearing what your recommendations are.
I hope in this series there will be a combo heat pump/natural gas water heater.

You don’t need gas in California. Heat pumps for water and space heating are a no brainer
no 120V?
All waiting on Manufactured Homes Decision Season 2024, which should be about now (no surprise elections like France's at this moment, though of course you could import in FRA to break up your development skylines. And that your candidates would be DEM now.) I'm unplussed because I see very small heaters, perhaps in sync with having one bath on each level (so, 2-3 heaters) plus a kitchen and patio service set, but no air circulation and ventilation schema which would be king. Why be shy about a folio of floorplans that deep?
