you need to look and understand local wages are not the same as the us. My close friend in moscow not a rural community.... makes 120,000 rubles a month with a job in the us that would easily pay 150,000 a year starting. So stop complaining and your kids should have jumped at an unskilled labor job for that wage.....

Лео, обратите внимание на возможности работы в медиа (Russia Today, BRICS (center, platform, ytchannel, etc.)). Возможно, иностранным обозревателем или аналитиком в отделе сбора и подготовки информации. Работать в кадре или за кадром, это решать вам :) В общем, речь идёт о том, чтобы работать, используя ваши навыки английского языка. Не знаю, есть ли вам смысл замыкаться в деревне. Вариант работы в Московских клубах, барах, ресторанах вы не рассматривали? Но регистрация в Ярославской области вам не позволит работать в Москве или я ошибаюсь? Ещё вариант - волонтёрская работа на международных мероприятиях. Например, на Форуме BRICS или других. Сегодня была презентация культурного центра BRICS в Московской области в ввостановленном особняке князей Оболенских. Мария Захарова давала интервью прессе. Возможно, там потребуются англоговорящие специалисты для международного взаимодействия. (Конкретных деталей или предложений у меня нет, просто, как вариант.)

The funniest part about all that it's that those people could be not even Russians. On some reason there is lot of scam of these sorts are coming from Ukraine. And I'm not kidding. I heard the reports of all sorts of scam business - marriage scams, bank account scams etc and most of those belonged to Ukraine.

Not a good idea to call anyone a thief untill all the facts have come out. It may feel good to say such things but for most people a court of law has to make such a judgement before people start throwing such an accusation about. Hopefully you will find yourselves in a better place eventually but those watching your videos casually talking about "scammers" as if someone has been found guilty in a court of law is not good. That is why each country has a law of libel to persuade people not to indulge in accusations before an court of law has established guilt.

From a distance it is very difficult to get an accurate handle on the detail of your troubles. You have tried your level best to provide these, however it remains insufficient to be able to render absolute conviction on this situation. Clearly one your side there was way too much trust and on the young man's side, if he said what you say, he has intimated to you that you could get your money back whenever you wanted when this has clearly not been the case. Looking at it from a rudimentary knowledge of investments I am unaware of how a money-back-whenever-you want-it basis to an investment could work outside of a cooling off period unless the money is taken from funds other than those you have invested. Once invested in some way it is usually locked into that investment for a period of time, usually I would say, for a matter of years. If the young man had intended to be able to give you your money back at more or less a moments notice then this appears to indicate he had access to funds other than your own money. Your money being locked up for some unspecified time in an investment would naturally not be available. The difficulties in communicating exascerbate this whole business I am sure. It's a mess. That's clear. Did you try to arrange a human translator so that something more like a normal, natural communication cycle could be effected between you and the young man to try and clarify how things stood? I think this could possibly have helped establish the exact position and whether there was good faith involved, a misunderstanding... or otherwise.

Yeah the whole registration thing is a dumb Soviet legacy law that was designed to restrict movement. In fact, some cities like Moscow you needed official permission to live and register there even if you were a Soviet citizen. You're right, they need to revise this law. At least make it possible for foreigners to register themselves in rented property. BTW, I own my apartment and I register myself no problem. US passport currently on a tourist visa. Also, some landlords will register you if you pay them an extra 10 or 20 thousand. How do you think all the Tajiks and Uzbeks do it?

As a foreigner you can absolutely register yourself in your own apartment or house as long as you are the owner. I own my apartment and I register myself every six months based on my US tourist visa.

Я не понимаю, чем занимается компания Russia today, почему они не освещают как можно больше таких историй, которые могли бы помочь очень многим людям. Они получают большие государственные деньги и они должны работать на благо России. Вместо этого их главный редактор Симоньян занимается только самопиаром себя, любимой. Пока они щёлкают клювом, другие более шустрые либеральные платформы Сороса успевают везде. Я очень сочувствую вам, очень грустно и очень стыдно за то, что в нашей стране есть такие бесстыжие люди, которые готовы украсть деньги и спокойно жить, не испытывая угрызений совести. Нужно озвучить их имена. Я думаю, нам всем нужно написать об этом популярным российским СМИ.

Chantelle, may this work out for you in the best way possible. Just a word of caution - if there is any offer from the other side to give you anything in exchange for your silence, or for saying good things about them, DO NOT accept, as they may set you up as a "blackmailer" who demanded they pay or else. And then file criminal charges against you. Just insist that you be given back what they took from you, and DO NOT accept anything beyond that, especially if they would condition it on you doing or not doing anything at all.

I hope everything is resolved for all parties and everyone can put this ugly mess away. But it's concerning to me that a media organisation might put a political spin on this and just use you and your family for that purpose... edit: I checked RTVI, which I've never heard of, and it isn't blocked here in Ireland/UK like RT is. That speaks volumes to the direction this might take.....
