Makes me think of the Johnstown Flood.

Me and my mom were making plans to go see the flower bridge because I had just left my job and it’s less than an hour from us and 3 days later our town/ city got flooded and the bridge was gone….just everything gone and destroyed … we haven’t heard from our family in Burnsville yet either…….I am pagan but I have a candle lit for everyone affected.

Please send Amish to Swannanoa NC they too are devastated like a war zone there..there today unbelievable devastation

Cold weather is coming. I make crocheted hats and scarves. I have plenty of yarn and I will make as many as I can to warm and comfort people.

I live in this general area and I have seen the general graciousness, generosity, compassion and kindness of the people. Strangers and the government just can’t match what has transpired in the last month.

How do you donate clothing and personal items - in perfect shape - from California? I’ve been doing $ because in other disasters they said not to send clothing.

My Mom was from Lake Lure. My Grandparents lived and operated The Bottomless Pools in Lake Lure for Many Years. I spent most of my childhood there, still can't wrap my Brain around the chaos that went down there.

That lake is full of houses, bodies, chemicals, plastic, antiques, on and on and on.

Many are saying the mud is very toxic

Hopefully people have learned 2 things that should motivate your preparedness plan.... 1- you cannot hide from mother nature 2- you cannnot depend on the gooberment to sustain you

I just hope people helping with the clean up are very careful handling the mud etc because unfortunately there were a lot of toxins released into our environment.

Thank you Holly. Lake Lure is one of our favorite vacation spots. We are heartbroken,what has happened to you and the whole area. We were just there in Aug and walked the Flower Bridge and listened to music at the Nector pub and watched the river. And sat on beach at Bald mountain at Wyndham . You are in our prayers.

There are looters in every catastrophe it is sad because of the people lost so much and have people that loot. Looters are low life's to take advantage of people.
