Just your average squirrel dad.
Bear Surprise
We stayed at our cabin a few days in summer 2023. We watched juvenile bears play in the driveway and go to the neighbor's yard and move up the street. That's when I decided to go outside to do some work and got surprised that a bear (which I thought walked down the street) was right there at our front door. Hilarity ensues.

The Story of Peaches the Squirrel
มุมมอง 547K3 ปีที่แล้ว
www.firefly-haus.com/blog/peaches-the-squirrel One day in August 2020, we found two baby squirrels that fell out of their nest. This is the story of us trying to save these little squirrels. If you're interested in more info about Peaches, I created a blog post on our vacation rental booking site: Thank you for watching!
Bloody Hollow Creek

The recent rains have filled up the creek at the back of the land. Recorded on 10/10/2009.
Any updates on Peaches?
Of course he don,t wanna go in the stink!😂
I was waiting for a hawk to snatch it as soon as you released it
Was waiting for a hawk to swoop down and grab him. Lol
That's a rat.
Maybe... I'm not an expert. But we have rats too. They're twice as big as that mouse we released.
Is it just me, or are mice getting bigger? That’s a THICK rodent.
This was EPIC!!
peaches loves her daddy lol... now i want a pet squirrel!
Are you treating her like a toy 🧸 when she eats? You pick her up and she squeaks.
Wow I made it to 11:14 & I don’t even want to watch the rest I’m just assuming you basically ended her life by abandoning an animal who’s known nothing but inside & humans.Who tf has a wild animal spend that much time w/humans & does NO preparation for release aka staying away from them not letting them on you & avoiding contact except for food which even then wld have to be done in a way squirrel knows has to look for it ETC!!!! I’m now at a loss for words bc WTF….an example this wld equate to is taking in a dog as newborn then soon as it’s a puppy just saying “BYE! Don’t get hit by a car HEHEHEHE”
I understand your concern. However, she kept coming back for months and clearly survived in the wild. If we ever raise another squirrel (or any animal), we'll be more focused on supporting them when we release to the wild.
Omg! I love the bench!❤😂😊
Ohhhhh, SO CUTE!!! I loved the video. As an animal lover, I have rescued a few birds & had a few domestic animals as pets including an Angora goat, dogs & a cat. We are glad you could provide the care Peaches needed as a baby, a juvenile & when injured. So pleased she was able to return from the wild as a visitor. God Bless this family 🙏🥰🦘🦘
Beautiful story ❤❤❤3 years ago now!!!+
Wonderful Bless You.
❤🎉😂
SOOO ADORABLE OVERCUTE 😍🥰🥰😍and thanks soo much for rescuing and caressing him: SOO GREAT AND HONORABLE! 👍🙏
That was time well spent, The downs, the ups, the downs again! and a happy ending ❤ Peaches is a Daddy's girl too, typical, poor Mama! x
Natural habitat is comfortable, continue to be friends as well . 🐾
I could see by the way Dottie fed that it was probably not going well for her ( failure to thrive). Peaches is so cute ❤ Thank you 😊
Good observation and true about Dottie. :(
YOu guys think it's funny , when you;re bugging her while she's eating ?!! , she's nota squeaky toy s.m.h
Yes it was. We didn't pester her all the time or anything. It was something new we discovered about her.
Daddys girl.
Honestly, you guys are so lucky! I'd give anything to enjoy, care for and love a cutie like Peaches. I hope she keeps coming home to you for a long time.
Me too
10/10 video!
😮 right to the start you squirrel are a thief because stolen you heart..is very adorable.
I have a tame squirrel, how do you deal with her claws - joey will shred your skin if he’s not clipped down ever 2 days
I have to be honest, claws on a full grown squirrel are pretty sharp and painful. We joked about me getting scratched up too much when she would climb on me when I only wore a t-shirt. I didn't know you could trim a squirrel's nails!
Both of those babies, are beautiful, and I’m so sorry you lost them Both, my husband and I are getting ready to have to release one ourselves and I’ve already started getting attached to the one we have, and named her munchy, because she likes to munch on my fingernails and my fingers, I just pray that when we let her loose nothing bad happens to her, God bless y’all
Absolutely beautiful!!!❤
Im so jealous. I would love to have a squirrel for a pet. They look super fun and loyal. Not in this lifetime i guess:(
You never know. If you have squirrels around your house there's always a (very rare) chance you'll find a baby that fell out of a nest. I certainly didn't expect this to happen to us.
Doesn’t she needs a squirrel nest (Drey) in the tree.
Many thanks to all of you for being nice & kind to the squirrel.
she love you very much.❤❤❤
very quite story ❤❤❤❤❤
Que hermoso ver que existen personas tan caritativas qué con mucha paciencia luchan por salvar sus vidas. Son seres inocentes y necesitan de nuestra ayuda. Gracias por rescatarla y salvarla. ❤❤❤❤
What a lovely experience!
So sweet. Thank you & life ❤.
She was far too young to be left outside while you vacay'd.. Likely a cat or another squirrel attacked her & you're very lucky she survived.. I've raised many baby squirrels . Even after they leave the nest in the wild , they will return for months . Whats more, mom is still teaching them what to eat & what is "dangerous"...
I agree with you. We tried to leave her with a friend but by then she wouldn't tolerate any humans than us. It was a very difficult decision.
I wish I had better documentation on my 1st red squirrel pup 9 years ago. Was a journey of learning. Am now at 74 doing it again. Both were found on ground in Aug(1st one)& 2nd one in late Sept. At most a week old. Don't know yet why it rains squirrel pups late summer. I use KMR till weaned to solids and on a vacuum water bottle. First pup, a female, released to nest box in the oak tree it fell from. Stayed around for many years. Terrified my dogs, ruled the back yard! This one's a male. Gonna use the same protocol. Started with a 1cc syringe and graduated to 5 then 10cc syringes. I learned not to flood them with formula!! Has been a great experience to be a part of helping them to fully grown "beasties" and get them back to the trees.
Lovely story 🥺❤😐
Pay with money wherever you go, no kard or phone
Nice story but too long video, showing moments for too long.
Yeah, I think so too. It was my first video and so much happened. I really made it to show my family.
what a lovely story
The video will be great if you cut out your annoying wife........
I’m so glad that she returns to see you every once in a while. They are very smart animals! Thank you for rescuing her! ❤️❤️🌹❤️❤️

Still great for a 2 year old clip uploaded.
Thank you :)
Sweet story ❤
I have a oy squirrel his is little man
why would you let her go is early - most pet squirrel can't make it in the wild unless you had been working with it for a long time for release - it's a death release that you gave her- thank God you were lucky to have gotten her back in to the wild but she may not have made it yet ???????????
I did the best I could.
Decades ago, I raised a Gray Squirrel, and named her Peaches. Such a coincidental name! She lived with me for about 14 years!
Our daughter picked the name. I'm glad you had so much time with your Peaches.
2:16 - I hate to say it, but based on this clip I suspect poor Dottie died of pneumonia caused by being improperly fed. You should NEVER feed a baby squirrel on its back like that, as it causes aspiration pneumonia (the milk getting into the lungs), and ultimately death. At 2:32 you can see milk bubbling out her nose, which is a clear sign of aspiration. If anyone ever happens to find themselves caring for a baby squirrel, PLEASE don't feed them on their back like this!!! I'm very glad that Peaches pulled through - squirrels are lovely little animals and to have such a bond with one is a real gift!
I think you're right on the feeding method being incorrect. But she was extremely weak when we found her so I believe she already had some health problems before we stepped in to help.
