    You have a lovely home. A clean home is very satisfying. Wow! How were those strawberries? I’ve never seen any like that? And your rainbows! I have many in our home throughout the day too! They bring me so much JOY! You have a claw foot tub! My dream! It was fun to see a different kind of video from you. 2 of our children were in special ED and these two humans are incredible as you are too! Your perspective on life is beautiful to witness and your art and love of creatures is a gift. I hope this is the part you completely embrace! Your mantra is perfect! Keep going!

      Those were winter frost pineberries, a type of hybrid strawberry. They were a little odd, but I liked them! They have a slight pineapple flavor. I love having rainbow makers in my home! They make me so happy too...my goal is to eventually have one in every single room 🤩. Aw thank you Tracie! 😭 I always enjoy reading your sweet comments. Thanks for following along ❤️

    I love your window view with all the green trees, rain and sometimes snow! I would love to be able to see things now, you taped these a few years ago and how has your creative space changed? (no pressure, just have a curious mind) I want to say, I'm so proud of you for sharing the morning pages authentically and how you feel as you have been working through the book. I think I have shared before that I have never made it past the first few chapters of this book and I have had it for YEARS.....procrastination:) Everything feels daunting for me and to hear you speak, it's like hearing my thoughts and I'm so much older but it also shows we are all human and age is just a number. Keep Going.

    Your cat is just the sweetest for comforting you while discussing a vulnerable topic 🥺 I completely empathise with this. I have this book and have tried many times to complete it and have yet to read and do the book. I can get the morning pages down, I’ve gone a few artist dates but over a decade of trying to finish the book, I get distracted . Im wondering if I should give it a go again? This video is inspiring! Proud of you for speaking your truth. Your studio is beautiful.

I'm so happy to hear my video has inspired you! Thank you for being here and listening ❤️

    I love the rollerskates, they're so cute and I love the butterfly wings on them! Your studio is so organised and beautiful, I loved the tour! Also the Kiki's Delivery Service clip at the end is such a good bookend to this video. The message of that movie is basically the messaging of the book and its course. Great stuff.

    @avoticat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I definitely agree with you on the distractions thing, the book seems to take quite an extreme approach to it. While I understand the idea of essentially "detoxing" from media and escapism hobbies, for me these things are also connected to my idea of what my art is. I am an analytical person and I cannot watch a piece of media without examining the artistry and craft behind it. There is definitely value in examining these things and monitoring how you spend your time, but I'm personally not a fan of the "cut this thing out entirely for a day/week/month" because there is no way to make those sorts of extreme changes without causing issues or damage. There's a reason why you're not supposed to change your diet really quickly, but gradually so your body can adapt and cope with the change. It's the same with physical exercise, you can't go from 0 to 100 in one session otherwise you physically won't be able to move the next day. Any mental or emotional exercises deserve the same consideration in my opinion. Your studio looks incredible. The amount of sanding is a lot, hopefully the rest of the process isn't as strenuous!

    • @naturephilia
      @naturephilia 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that the author takes it to the extreme, which doesn't always work for everyone. I feel inspired from watching media, like films and tv shows. Removing these things completely from my life is almost devastating. I think it's such a beautiful thing for artists to consume other forms of art and then create something from newfound inspiration. Thank you! 😊 I can't wait until I'm finished with sanding and can move on to the fun part...painting!

    Comparing self-doubt to addiction is such an interesting take, something to be aware and vigilant of as something that is a destructive indulgence. Healing is definitely not linear. I like to consider it like a bit of a mountain hike. Some parts are harder than others. Sometimes you have to take weird paths that don't seem to be moving you up at all. Sometimes you slip down. Sometimes the path goes down before it comes back up again. And it's usually easier and less dangerous if you have a good guide! I definitely need to watch Twin Peaks I genuinely don't know how I've gotten this far in life without seeing it.

    • @naturephilia
      @naturephilia 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh I love that analogy! It perfectly reflects all the ups and downs, and sidetracks that one goes through while on a healing journey. Twin Peaks is so good! It's quirky and strange in all the best ways. Highly recommend giving it a watch.

  • @avoticat
    @avoticat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    As someone who is disabled, the struggle with figuring out whether something isn't right and bad for me vs. the self-doubt and self-sabotage is very real and relatable. It can be so hard to tease those feelings apart, I think your reflections in this video were so valuable!

  • @avoticat
    @avoticat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I definitely agree that external validation is very important and impactful. Humans are social creatures, and as much as many of us want to and can rise above criticism and cruelty that people send to us, it's important to not dismiss the impact, particularly if these people are close to us. Finding and surrounding yourself with supportive people is so important for wellbeing and creativity. I've just started watching this series and I am really enjoying your journey. I am also considering getting this book!

    • @naturephilia
      @naturephilia 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are so right. Wanting to feel seen and validated is so much a part of human nature. I've always felt dismissed when people would tell me that it's something I don't need. On the contrary, relying solely on external validation as fuel for your creative drive is definitely not sustainable. I'm glad you're enjoying it! By the way, there are lots of affordable used copies of the book on eBay, that's where I got mine :)
