This is not a good way to clean headstones. There are better videos using D2 Biological Solutions and Tampico brushers which do not harm.

D2 is the only cleaner to do any cleaning job on a cemetery stone. Best there is.

I bought some D2 and sprayed it on my family's stones. It is not magic and does clean but will need more applications. I tried not to breathe in the overspray but the next day I could sense some of it had gone into my lungs. Wear a respirator if you are going to clean with D2. How does D2 compare to Wet and Forget?

Amazing to know a lot of the black on old headstones is actually from coal dust settling and being rained out of the sky. Back when we burned coal in home and factory furnaces with no scrubbers or filters, pre-epa. No wonder people had so many lung issues back then.

The type of brush you use is important. Nylon brushes will scratch the stone - it is recommended to use fiber brushes. D/2 or Orvus are all that have been tested and recommended to clean stones.

Please do not use dish soap it deteriorates the headstones. My daughter has been cleaning headstones for a year now with a lot of research D2 is the best cleaning choice. God bless you for doing this but use D2.

Why did you not make part 3 to show us the results? I hear many TH-camrs talk about how the stone will get much better over time (using D2) but have not seen any followup pics... here's how the stone looks 1 month later, 3 months later, 6 months later. etc. I'm not convinced the stones actually get cleaner, brighter etc over time. hope I'm wrong.

So i love seeing the outcome from all your cleaned stones. Do you happen to know how to get rid of the light brown or yellow stains that just won't come off ? I see more where im from that come from flower hangers from metal. I just cant seen to get it all. Is there a way ?

It would be more effective if you started at the top & worked your way down. Your past work was wasted because the dirt from the top resettled at the bottom.

When I clean stones, I wet it down with water, and then cover it in D2 Biological Solution and let it sit 15 min. I wet again and use plastic scraper to remove lichen and moss. Then mix Orvos paste soap with water and scrub stone in circular motions. Rinse with water and add another soaking of D2 and leave it. I usually go back in a couple months and most old stones are almost completely clean. Some are actually almost white. I only do stones before 1920 and mostly veterans stones. I'm sure your family appreciates your kindness and love in keeping gravestones beautiful.

I do cleaning of military and family stones as well for a long time. I also use D2 . You NEVER us a brush with bristles harder than a horsebrush or tooth brush on a grave stone!!! It damages the stone. You may not see damage scratches now but in the future you can tell. What you dont get off with the horsebrush, nature and D2 does!

@@harley092355 not sure what your comment has to do with safety. Usually most people would follow safety recommendations and use the proper tools and equipment for a particular job. I'm sure you follow safety at your job, no? Driving with a seatbelt, indicator lights on your vehicle, headlights and tail lights at night. I'd be interested in hearing your explanation, though, regarding your comment. Thanks in advance.
