Why Dave Chappelle Walked Away From $50,000,000
Jay Z was and is a fan of his work.
Def
Actually cool video, i was skeptical at first but I loved it - crazy seeing these early 2000s TV clips!!
The nostalgia is wild.. appreciate it!!
She was the most stunning girl I ever saw then again we all were younger n get old fat n ugly like me xx
Her saying she wanted Drake to murder her vagina in a tweet.. come on 👏 👏 🙌 😅
I was always so sympathetic to Amanda, assuming it was just outside influence that propelled her downfall.. But I think she was just a human being. She couldn't handle the drugs and blew some really good roles.
Try to space your audio edits a little more. Butt joining them as you do leaves no space at all and it all sounds rushed
Thanks appreciate the feedback
Your most definitely underrated bro keep going 🔥🔥🔥
Try this. For one day, carry around with you a notepad and pen and write down the subject matter for every thought you think, what you see around you or what you hear, whom you meet or speak to, et al, regardless of the source or the chronology. By the end of the day, in your own words, you may have a written expression of all that Basquiat conveyed in many of his paintings. It was that expansive and all encompassing. Come to think of it, you may amaze yourself at all that runs through your mind in a given 24 hour period. 😮
First came across him with the 808s & Heartbreak cover
You and probably many others
in my Mind was instantly a classic and changed so much from the cover to the singles all those beats were so so crazy wasnt no mixed reviews outside the critics
Certified classic love that album
Let us know your thoughts!
I think his figures are cool but tbh they're just overpriced paper weights at this point. Nothing against him but his work is over exposed and overvalued for what it is.
Hard to argue!
Man I wonder if anyone ever kept one of those postcards he sold.
It’d be worth a pretty penny now for sure
Good video. But doesn't this demonstrate the hyper-commodification and hyper-consumerization of fine art? He went from parodying advertisement to being an advertiser. This is my opinion, but KAWS is just as much "art" as the stock photos that you see in picture frames. It exists only to sell the product it is attached to.
Agreed. Once he became mainstream his work just became overpriced/overinflated collectibles for the wealthy to flex. To own a kaws companion became a status symbol you see them everywhere lol Just look at Drakes toosie slide video. Once marketing heads saw it's impact commercially stock in his work went through the roof.
@@dfxstudios Exactly. I mean all art is inherently a commodity for the wealthy. Pretty much evey great artist had a rich patron. But to me there is something disingenuous about KAWS framing his early art as a criticism of advertisers who monopolized spaces and pushed out small and local artists, and then becoming that which he criticized. Again, I enjoyed the video and will definitely watch more. Just wondering, is there a reason why you didn't mention your criticism of KAWS in the video? I think it is important to have these sorts of discussions about art and consumerism. It is possible to appreciate a work of art while also criticizing the industry that it participates in.
@ That's a good point. Tbh I try to stray away from my personal opinions when making videos for the channel, but sometimes I do offer my 2 cents. I try to tell the story with a non-biased informational/educational approach. The video was made to tell the story of kaws and how he became popular, not so much offer criticism. I do think more opinion based pieces could come in the future though.
Thank u for this mini documentary! Murakami san is so interesting
He got really lucky getting affiliated with Nigo so early on
100%
🎥💫🍾
Y'all need to stop, seems like every big name producer go through the same thing, they get too big, the media pulls them down, the entertainment industry, I wish it would get back to normal like it was in the 60's
Good doc, great editing, poor V/O sound. You need a windscreen or something on there to keep your "P's" from popping. In headphones it's painful. Also you get louder and softer like you're getting closer and further from the mic. There are cheap fixes for this. The doc is too good to have such low quality voiceover.
Totally agree I was clipping like crazy
@dfxstudios good doc though, I'm going to show it to someone today.
@@Eli_B3000 Appreciate that thanks
Lets blame drugs....i did drugs, went to prison when i wasd innocent and i still didnt fall like this
Looked a lot like his mom, she died young too.
I was born in 93 and I feel like I grew up with her. She was a huge part of my sister and I's childhood. My first crush and god damn she was fucking gorgeous. It honestly breaks my heart seeing her today, it's like she doesn't have an ounce of joy left in her body. Her eyes are so lifeless and her voice is so monotone and dull. I know those are side effects of antipsychotics, but that doesn't make it any less tragic. In a parallel universe she is still the quirky, energetic, lovable girl that we all once knew. I just hope she can truly be happy one day in this universe.
I've always thought he's kind of fine
Black and yellow black and yellow
It looks like the same thing that happened to Brittany Spears, I see a huge MK Ultra pattern going on.
Its a pity the people around her didnt enlist the help of mental health professionals earlier. It seems like she hit burnout when she got mononucleosis. That kind of virus can cause depression. She was exhausted at that point and needed rest. Poor dear. They did not create balance for these young stars!
Mkultra Victim
I was a huge fan and I saw him in concert in 1968.
Oh yeah? Is say yeah lol
I know my bad lol
Jay- Z and The Weekend definitely copied his hairstyle.
Diddy needs that butt stank all on his balls yall. Russ needs the man-slime
Russell Simmons you can run but you can't hide
Who the executives that turn out Russell Simmons
Theo was not 19 in 2000 I can’t believe that heck I’m 28 born in 96 no way his 43
Another garbage man😊
Died at age 27 like Jimi Hendrix.
His hair was the real art
I don’t get it. $110 million for that?
When I eventually have children, may the gods never fill my heart with thoughts of subjecting my children to this just for money and fame.
You forgot to mention the part when he was invited onto the Oprah Show as a “fire and brimstone”-preaching kid preacher 😂😂😂
My three year old Daughter scribbles like this. Anyone want to buy for $110M? 😂😂
What was so horrific at home that he left and didn’t return that’s the question? My heart aches that he struggled before he had a chance to see his work today.
he's a pig and a rapist
wow
Great video, what is the instrumental used behind it?
Thanks! Got it off epidemic sound
I'm so tired of"iconic" next word to tire us out!!!!!!
Excellent Video. Very Informative.
Yo your videos are fire 🔥 i don’t know why this doesn’t have more views
Thanks brother 🙏🏽 appreciate it
Great research but it’s always the same being said about it’s all her doing and her mother being on her weight….. no one’s mind gets to this point with just that. I’ve always felt wow they have such solid information on her and her life and nothing more. Then Quiet on set came around and it made a lot more sense that we don’t have the full story on the horrors that has happened to her and we probably never will. On top of that there were other documentaries years before that were being hidden just like Quiet on Set but everyone dismissed them. I know I would go crazy for sure if I knew I would never get justice for the crimes done to me.
Its sad to this beautiful young lady destroyed by Hollywood
