Yeah i get it man. Tbh i now think of it as showing who your real friends are and who was a "friend" for only a chapter of your life. If they cared about you as a friend as much as you do for them, then they would reach out to you too. The phone rings both ways and im leaving those people in 2024.

I made my 10 year anniversary from graduating highschool this year and I feel like I’ve felt like this for the last 10 years. It’s true, something about having a set routine for most of your life & then not preparing for when it ends, feels super weird. That trial period, I feel like no one talks about it enough. At least for the people who are unsure of what to do or how to take the next steps 🙏🏽

Life when you are under 26 is full of ego fulfilling flattery after dark. And needing proper sleep and good food is very important. But adult life is learning to say no. To compromise. Or like Cinderella, to leave the late nights at 12 am or 1 am. If it hasn't been truly life altering by the, it will not improve by 5:30 except get you a different crowd at the 24 hour diner restaurant. Love your undereye patches.

Life is a journey. There are experiences we have as adults beyond the ken of a child. But, you are correct that we should stay intouch with our inner child that was full of wonder and adventure for the world around us. As a side note, not every interaction is a fuck. Some situations just are. Relax. Be yourself. To your own self be true.

The difference between an acquaintance and a friend may be at the heart of your dilemma. Many people parachute in and out of our lives. Few will stay around for decades or travel to your distant wedding. Some people we connect with deeply are potential lovers and lovers should be best friends too. But the best friends you mean, l believe remain platonic. But will give you a supportive hug when you need it. I had a friend who had lost their job and this outgoing charming person was giving one word answers and sounded very low. We had made a vague promise to visit and go to dinner. I arrived anyway. He was rumpled, unkempt and needing a shave. I told him go take a shower or a bubble bath and l will do the dishes and organize the kitchen and ran the vacuum cleaner because he needed it. We went to a late Chinese dinner. He told me everything about what was and was not occuring in his life. I gently encouraged him that everyone has screw ups. Everyone gets fired at least once. Make a new resume' and read the want ads. Later he sold his condo, got a new job and basicly a new life. So, none of us has a user manual. We are all making it up for what fits our personality. And guess what? As the author you can revise it at any time. So go live life. People are waiting for you.
