    Four-eyed trail runner here. - I keep my specs on my face with a cheap soft nylon strap by a company called Anchor Glasses Straps that sells through Amazon. I always wear a hat, and I make the strap snug around the back of the top of my head so that hat also kind of keeps the strap in place. - Photochromatic (auto-tinting) lens coatings are a MUST. It's so nice not to have to keep either sunglass covers or separate prescription sunglasses around and manage when to wear them. - Water-repelling coatings are handy for running in wetter climates. - So far, I've gotten most of my glasses from Zenni Optical. They're cheap because I'm pretty hard on them, but you can get a decent set of specs for under $100. - Anti-fog wipes are very helpful to avoid steaming up the inside of your lenses for sweatier activities. - I'm still trying to figure out the side-glare issue, which can spell disastrous for trail running at higher speeds. I've wiped out a few times after a side ray made me see pure white for a split second-long enough to trip on a rock or a root. Most side shields are meant for safety glasses, so I'm still experimenting.

    I'm wondering if it's healthy (or convenient) to not be able to walk around barefoot without feeling pain. I plan to buy these for around-the-house stuff but I just bought a pair of Xero's for outdoor use, which are known to be zero arch sandals and claim that this is better for feet. I don't know either way but I would assume people would want to avoid needing a pair of shoes to walk? Any commentary on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

      Hi Sarah, I appreciate your comment. To answer your question, the science is not fully settled on the subject of arch support. Anecdotally, more support has always improved my life. However, I am well read on the minimalist movement, and I find it interesting and occasionally compelling. I would say that a person who strengthens their arch very intentionally with highly selective stages benefits from footwear that encourages this, may see positive results. However, the narrative that arch support or heel support is bad for the foot is plainly bonkers pseudoscience. Injuries happen when the body is tired and form is sloppy, the support prevents such ill advised misalignment. In my case, a year ago, I had been wearing supportive shoes all day every day and suddenly was barefoot all day every day, the abruptness of the transition caused discomfort, not the underlying footwear philosophy. Thank you for your comment and I wish you the best on your shoe journey.

    Man that was a nice review you did. I would like to get a pair of those those look like they will be more easier for me to put on. I have a question? Do you know if they make those in big size and do they come wide. I have big very very wide feet sz14 5 EEEEE with very very fat wide toe. It's very hard for me to find Footwear because they don't make a shoes that's wide enough for my foot. I have to wear flip-flops year round even in the winter time in 20 to 30 degree temperature. I like them for 1. The footbed look like it's soft for the foot 2. They don't have the toe Loop. I tried the ones with the toe loop and my big toe will not fit through it. 3. You can wear socks with those. I know socks and sandals do not go together but I can't find a tennis shoe or a socks that will fit my foot because it's so wide and being barefooted 👣 in flip-flops in the winter time your toes get cold real fast and I like to keep my toes warm this winter. My best friend's wife is making me some custom socks right now for me to wear for the winter this year those sandals would work great. Love my flip-flops I've been wearing them for 30 years now but I have trouble getting them to fit my foot because my foot is wider than the flip flop straps. Oh one more question do you know it if those straps loosen up wide enough to fit a very very wide foot with very fat wide toe through them. It really sucks having a foot this very wide with fat wide toe . Thank you and I apologize for being so long.

    • @williamjesnider
      @williamjesnider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mack, thanks for your comment! ... hmm, lots of questions here, forgive me if I miss one. 1. they do not currently come in wide, size M's 14 should be available though 2. the footbed is soft, and you are correct there is not a toe loop 3. have you tried Injini socks? 4. z-strap does allow for some adjustment for both width and volume, but I'll be truthful in saying that it is a fairly minimal range of adjustment

    • @mackjenkins7721
      @mackjenkins7721 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williamjesnider you are welcome man thank you for sharing your video. Oh man they need to for people like me. That's awesome to hear the foot bed is soft. Yes I tried the injinji socks and they would not fit me. "LOL" I pulled the socks as wide as I could and I could get three toes in the socks. I lay the sock down flat and put my foot on top of the sock and my foot was still wider than the Socks. My two last Toes were far off the sock. So I measured how wide the socks were. It measure 4 inches wide and my foot is a little over 6 inches wide when my foot doctor measured it. That's how wide my feet are. I really do like those socks though. I gave the socks to my son who has a wide foot two but they fit him with no problem. He loves wearing them with his flip-flops in the winter time. He says they keep his toes warm.I tried the once with the Z strap and could not get my foot to fit in it for some reason. I guess the straps don't adjust wide enough for my foot. I set my foot on top of the sandal and it showed that it should had fit good but I could not get them on my feet for some reason. I wondered of it's because of my toes being very wide. I have been told your feet can be wide put your toes can cause the problem. I wish I could find a store that sells them and try them on. Thank you

      @@williamjesnider hello how you doing. I just want to say thank you for your information I bought me a pair of the chillos sandals. The size is perfect but the width I'm having issues with. I have to have custom straps added to them so they will fit my foot Barefoot 👣 or with socks on. My best friend's wife made me some custom socks to fit my wide feet so I can wear these with the sandal. Man I'm so excited I haven't worn socks in 30 years. With the socks being comfortable and the sandals being comfortable I have a nice pair of Footwear. Wish I could find something that was closed toes the stead of open toes. But I'm used to wearing sandals in the winter. My toes would definitely be warm this winter. 2 Question ? How is your sandals holding up are you still wearing them. And do you have the toe socks. Again thank you it's very very hard to find Footwear when you have a very very wide foot with fat wide toes.

    • @williamjesnider
      @williamjesnider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Converse and Nike are both part of the same company and frequently run a little bit short, causing people to upsize a bit. ... ideally, if you could use a brannock device to measure your medial arch length (heel-to-ball flex length) that would be the most useful measurement. Assuming you do not have a brannock device at home, I would probably recommend you go with size 10, since the Chillos run big.

      I normally wear a size 9 in closed toed shoes, yet wear a 7 with my chaco sandals. Yet a brannok sizer has me at size 8 (I think, it's been a while since I used one.) And I have wide feet, so the forefoot/toebox of a shoe has to be wide enough.

    I'd have to agree! King's Speech was great, but nothing in comparison to Inception, True Grit and Toy Story 3. The Oscars so inaccurately portray the "best" of anything, it's almost a joke.

  • @williamjesnider
    @williamjesnider 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh and Danny Boyle's 127 Hrs, a feat of immense power, very difficult to execute. All in all, Tom Hooper is not a great director, he is a pleasant and "safe" director. The King Speech was a really good movie, but not any better than many BBC tv shows that get aired every year, why give the award to something that is merely just very good when you have revolutionary films to choose from. Several of the greatest living directors made seminal masterpieces that year, but they gave it to Hooper?

  • @williamjesnider
    @williamjesnider 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    haha, I would have preferred any of the other nominees that year had won. 2010 was a year for game-changing, highly original, risky and challenging films which were miraculously balanced in style and substance, both popular and art films. Fincher's "The Social Network" was an obvious winner, but also True Grit (the Coen Brother's magnificent western), Arronofsky's psychological horror film, and then the mainstream masterpieces, Toy Story 3 and Inception, both unbelievable films.

It would be fun to see more extreme sport vids shot in that format. I'm interested in scraping 400 bucks together and getting one and comparing to Hero1 and Hero2, maybe making a side by side video.

  • @Proceed1992
    @Proceed1992 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought the same thing. I think "The Frame" for example totally looks like an apple product. Not much like the other rugged gopro accessories. I also wondered why they made the camera smaller. The 2x more powerfull thing is kind of ok I think. The trailer looks like the Hero3 is capturing much more detail than the Hero2, doubled framerates and resolutuion and better low light performance. May be scientifically wrong to generally say 2 times better everything. Thanks for the Vid.

    everything you said is almost certainly a problem. I was actually referring to the fact that around the 11 minute mark the audio gets about two minutes off of the video and then stops, even though on the editing software it is in sync. I've been converting to hi res mp4 to make youtube uploading easier, and somewhere in the conversion its been getting kinky. I'm not a techie so I don't really understand the idiosyncrasies of this stuff. But built mics are always crap, never rely on them.

  • @JordanDuran5101
    @JordanDuran5101 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The mic on the camera probably has a built in limiter. Its like auto exposure for sound...Also it could be some bad wiring? Maybe a combination? Thats a frustrating problem. I'm looking into grabbing a zoom h1 and just having it handy all the time.
