It's thrilling to see such divine beauty, love, and eroticism depicted with genius. Excellent music by Rebikov, too, BTW. We moderns should be ashamed and maligned for wiping out the memories and the lives of John Godward, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and others, in favor of the 20th Century fraudsters and hacks with no skill. Godward (1861-19220 was ridiculed, bankrupted, and driven to suicide by so-called "art critics". We're now told that obscenity, violent pornography, and rank amateurism is "high art". The bitter joke is on all who promulgate such utter, corrupting failure.
