Did you put any pvc inside the barrels?

Small leaks are ok, when you fill it in everything will be ok....

Currently doing the same system for an offgrid camp using 4 barrels then the field. Quick question? How did you compress the fittings between the barrel inner and outer ?

Would love to see a spring garden update! Love your raised bed system!! Im in ohio and we have a very small piece of land that we share with my father, grandmother and sister. hubby and i have been living in an rv since 2018 and my sister has since 2021. And dad and gma are in the house. We all like staying close after losing my mom... We only have a little more than an acre but we make it work :) we also have a raised bed system but we used scavanged pallets for ours. Its our second year with them and ive doubled my garden size and thought i was getting in over my head but then i seen this video of your set up and it made me feel a little more c0nfident about being able to handle it cause you got way more going on than i do lol

It is quite funny to be concerned with septic leaks at fittings, as a septic system is designed to leak. But, the holding tanks can't leak as they need to maintain effluent for organic sewage breakdown.

I am currently redoing a septic field system mainly for RV dump and hookup. Using a Kubota BX25 for careful excavation of PVC pipe and salvaging the drain rock for reuse. This field was installed by a previous property owner when all they needed to do was install a new d-box on the original 30 year old home system. This field was unused for the past 8 years, so reusing materials is feasible. Love the BX25.

I had a similar system for one person lasted 15 years without any pump outs. Tore out the barrels - the primary Barrel had about 8 in of sludge.

This is really stupid. You dont wrap the drainage pipes in fabric and you dont put fabric under the rock. The only place for fabric is above the pipe and rock so it doesnt grt dirty. Also would put the pipes closer to the middle.not on the edge of the stone. Thats ok i see you are sure of yourself. You will find out

How do you empty the tanks?

Nice setup and perfectly ILLEGAL in most areas.

You're gonna wish you would have used sand sock on those field lines instead of felt

Where do you have the vent at?

It won't work the backfill will turn to mud mud is heavier than water and will crush the barrels

I spent so much time and effort planting many varieties of herbs and tomatoes this spring but they would sprout and then wither. Later I found out that the pile of dirt that I used to fill my pots was treated with RoundUp. DOH!

Hey great video’s! One tip for dumping your black/grey tanks. Dump the black tank first, and then flush your hose with the grey water to get all the undesirable waste water out of the flex hose!

Nice job David! You are so very creative with everything, I wouldn't have a clue on how to do things like this. I was born a City Boy and I've been a City Boy all my life, never had the need to build things myself (except for the occational IKEA-furniture, the bookshelf Billy as an example 😁 ) so I guess my brain isn't wired that way. Привет Вам из России! 😊 Я планирую сделать подобную систему канализации в своем летнем доме. Площади у меня мало рядом, но грунт хорошо впитывает воду. По этому сделаю третью бочку с отверстиями вместо поля фильтрации. И в начале сделаю вертикальную трубу для вентиляции. Еще у нас продаются, да и у вас они наверняка есть, бактерии для разложения органики. Если их добавлять в унитаз раз в месяц, то в первой бочке фекалии будут разлогаться и откачивать придется гораздо реже. Но для этого на улице должно быть тепло. Всего Вам хорошего! Good luck 👍

Wrong kind of rock.

Never seen a septic system like this before but it looks ok to me. Would vinegar and baking soda do anything to help keeping the pipes from clogging up? Here they say that it's a non-toxic pipe cleaner that wont hurt the plumber if you need to call him. I think the vinegar should be warmed up a bit, to 140-150F or so. Cheers / Mr_B_Dublin

How do you pump out the sludge after a few years?
