I just finished an online Mensa test, and scored 105. : ( I'm generally fairly good at puzzle solving, but I just couldn't find any logic for some. After I watch this, I'll go back and re-test, and see if it helped.

LMAO its so funny (and I tend to overthink a lot aswell) because in puzzle number 1, all of the shapes have a line at the bottom and - in my opinion at least - another correct answer "Z" also has one, so this personally seems like the most logically simple answer, although your answer is super cool aswell. This is the reason even some high IQ individuals might score lower on a test, if the answer either requires a less or more complicated answer, and they might think they either have to complicate it or even simplify it, which can seem hard to do, when things seem complicated (filtering things out you want to ignore), which might be another aspect of IQ in and of itself, just like speed is an aspect of IQ, although speed in solving tests doesnt necessarily equate to an individuals ability (or potential perhaps) to dive deeply into abstract topics, if time is not of the essence. This may be where "creativity" enters the idea, where it might or might not be linked to IQ to some degree. I believe it's not in terms of scientific research.

I went completely above and beyond and began drawing all sorts of things on a paper for half an hour diving deeper and deeper into a form of delusion of thinking I was in the depths of solving a unbelievably complex exercise. Then at the very end after being overwhelmed with sleepyness, almost right before falling asleep, when I was the most tired, I just thought well let me just try cut 1 up into 3 pieces and - indeed - completed the task in approximately 2 minutes from when I began my last attempt until I finished it. Interestingly enough, the most simple solution feels like usually the one that will decide whether you actually "win or lose* with regards to different practical aspects life such as scoring a job or doing well in school. I have autism and ADD and I tend to overthink almost every cognitive task, and it can give me some deep insights that people react to as if they are profound, but can be a big challenge when im trying to complete basically any other sort of assignment in time.

got 131 when i did it. how might i fair in a real exam? always assumed id be between 85-100 because i did bad in school. always score high in online ones though

heyyy number 15 could also be answer F because you can move the parts out like they move if you look at the matrice from a horisontal point of view.

That’s actually insane how similar I am thinking with the author of the video, so basically now i know that I failed like 2-3 puzzles I was honestly thinking that b it’s a correct answer to 35. 32, 34 even with me getting the patterns right i still Failed, funny how close I was. So overall it’s give me like 121 or there about and honestly thinking of that deeply, does it really matters this hard ? Like doing this test for the first time with the time limit and some people really stressing over this even if it’s 20 hours because of there background, trauma and etc, they can miscalculate due the stress or some people would take that to seriously and miscalculate over the stress as well, while answering almost correctly and that’s will count, so the difference will be 24 points which is a lot. Hard to make this test objective but IMO if u get over 100 don’t even worry about anything it’s really a small difference between u and the highest score

I think number 23. has two distractions: That it has the same square indifferent of each other in the first horizontal line and all the others are unique or not the same, and it is like there are some logic rules like addition or manipulation by interacting signs, but its most likely only a count ridle: 1 object, 2 objects, 3 objects. So it must be E (3 objects).

I tend to think more in terms of permutation between rows objects than in terms of diagonals. For Example if ther first two squares had respectively one and three dots, the. the third one should have three two dots. Similarly for shapes and so on

For Puzzle 35, the puzzle still works with two white triangles in the center square. If triangles of any color do not overlap, they remain on/near the same spot they were and get "added" up, as seen on the first row. However, if triangles do overlap, there seem to be 2 rules to follow 1. If they are of the same color, they simply cancel each other out 2. If they are of opposite colors, they also cancel each other out, but not necessarily the triangle they share the space with. They subtract the amount of the panel with the lesser amount of triangles on a row from the panel with the larger amounts row, and if the triangle is white the remaining triangles get moved (or remain) to the left of where the white triangle was. If the triangle is black, the remaining triangles remain or go to the right of where the black triangle was. It's a little far fetched, but I think it's fair to intuit that pattern due to the repetition of the amounts seen on the second and third row's first two columns

18:05 No????? I don't know if my explanation is right, but your answer contradicts your own logic. The way I interpreted it was that vertical lines are removed from a quadrant of the circle as the row progresses, and depending on where the vertical lines were removed in the second column, it would dictate where it would be removed in the right column. Since the vertical lines in the second column on the third row were removed from the "eastern" quadrant of the circle, it would follow that the "northern" vertical lines would be removed, following the pattern from the row above it. At question 29. I found way that is easier and fits but isnt correct. 19:02 ⭕+⭕ (in first two colomns) = 🔳 (in third column), also on the countrary 2x🔳 (in first two ) = 2x⭕(in third column) This also work in rows and in columns, so why tf this is less correct than your solution ??

Puzzle 18 is wrong and you also have wrong reasoning. The correct answer is 4. To find the answer to the problem, you need to look at the vertical lines and the horizontal lines. The horizontal lines increase by one line per image. The vertical line moves up and it will appear as a vertical line in the last picture

This test goes against the trend for me. I usually get high 130s to low 140s for other tests however, only getting 107 here. I owe it to the fact that I have very, very bad numerical skills and probably likely have undiagnosed dyscalculia - my ability to handle numbers has always been incredibly subpar.

At puzzle 14 i think C might also be a valid answer. Cause all the lines on the TOP LEFT TO BOTTOM RIGHT DIAGONAL rotate by 45degrees each step.

Question 8, you did a whole lot to explain the answer and I don't think that's the wrong thing to do, it's a method that no doubt works but bro, each line goes 1st original then 2nd original but the 3rd is just a flipped or mirrored 2nd, no diagonals or anything that's how I did it, your way would obviously be able to plot out a much larger table with missing points assuming the pattern wasn't just 1 2 2 1 22 1 2 2
