    Taking care of yourself requires more than just catching some Zzz's. Here's a breakdown of the different types of rest you need to feel your best: 1. Physical Rest (Active & Passive): This is about giving your body a break from physical demands. It encompasses both: - Passive Rest: Sleep is the ultimate form of physical rest. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night. - Active Rest: Activities like yoga and stretching help your body recover by improving flexibility, reducing tension, and promoting blood flow. 2. Mental Rest (Schedule Breaks!): Your mind needs downtime too. - Short Breaks: Take micro-breaks throughout the day to step away from screens and mentally recharge. Get up, walk around, do some deep breathing exercises. - Engage in a Hobby: Doing something you enjoy takes your mind off daily pressures and allows for creative expression. 3. Sensory Rest (Unplug!): Our senses are constantly bombarded with stimulation. - Close Your Eyes: Give your eyes a break from screens by closing them for a few minutes, focusing on calming darkness. - Nature Walks: Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature. Fresh air and greenery can be incredibly calming. - Digital Detox: Take a break from technology entirely. Disconnect for a period to reduce digital overload. 4. Creative Rest (Find Awe!): You can’t spend 40 hours a week staring at blank or jumbled surroundings and expect to feel passionate about anything, much less come up with innovative ideas. Creative rest reawakens the awe and wonder inside each of us. - Craft: Engage in a low-pressure creative pursuit you enjoy, and let yourself explore without judgment. - Nature: Natural beauty can spark awe and inspire creativity. - Music: Listening to music you love can be a powerful way to relax and stimulate new ideas. 5. Emotional Rest (Be Honest!): Acknowledge and address your emotions for healthy emotional well-being. - Talk to a Therapist: Seeking professional help can provide valuable tools for managing difficult emotions. - Express Yourself: Talking to someone you trust or journaling your feelings can be cathartic and help release emotional burdens. 6. Social Rest (Positivity Power!): Social interactions can be draining or energizing depending on the situation. - Time with Loved Ones: Spend time with people who uplift and support you. - Limit Drains: Minimise contact with people who leave you feeling depleted. - Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to social obligations that will leave you feeling drained. 7. Spiritual Rest (Connect Deeply): Connect with something larger than yourself for a sense of purpose and peace. - Meditation: Meditation practices can help connect with your inner self and find inner peace. - Volunteer: Helping others can be a fulfilling way to connect with your community and find meaning. - Nature: Spending time in nature can be a deeply spiritual experience, fostering a sense of connection to the world around you. By incorporating these different types of rest into your life, you can create a holistic approach to well-being and feel your best physically, mentally, and emotionally. Remember, rest isn't a luxury, it's a necessity!

      @@mycraftmaster(too long but got carried away 😃) At the moment drawing and digital painting. I started reading upon it - books like " Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us" and so Sir Ian's words hit home in a way that a year ago I would have skipped this video without it meaning anything. I might have even said something like "he would say that, wouldn't he" or something along those lines Actually 3-4 years ago I did three months of drawing (I felt on top of the clouds) and stopped because I thought "this is stupid, I'm not even good". Now it's taking a long time for me to get back to that state, now my drawings a lot worse, but if I ever get to those clouds again, I have the right mindset and information to value it. I'm trying to draw on an iPad (just so I don't have to mess around with paper), it is great to get me into painting, but I don't feel fully in control of drawing on it yet. But that book and the content written by one Marcus Geduld (on quora) has given me the desire to re-kindle what I had but my insecure self didn't value

      @mycraftmaster 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing your journey and book recommendation! I definitely want to check it out. I'm so glad the video meant something to you this time around. You're right, only the people who get it will feel it. It really resonated with me. Getting back into drawing can be tough, but you're doing it! Thats the hardest part! Digital art is so different painting, but fun to explore. Keep on experimenting and having fun, I'm going to do the same :)
