Welcome to Blue's Armory where I break down Star Wars costuming for beginners as I go on the journey myself. Mistakes will be made
my thoughts on the Acolyte
I've been trying to stay away from the discourse around this show for a while but I wanted to say a bunch of stuff and not get into an argument on Instagram about it so I've decided to just dump my thoughts on here.

Custom Lightsabers from TEMU
มุมมอง 379หลายเดือนก่อน
A while back when I made my first TEMU lightsaber video I asked if people would like to see me customise it and I got enough answers that said yes for me to actually try it. So here's the video of me creating a custom lightsaber from the TEMU junk ones. This was super fun to do and I'd love to try and do this again with another budget lightsaber but maybe upgrade the internals who knows. Follow...

My BUDGET Imperial Officer Costume
มุมมอง 139หลายเดือนก่อน
What's cooler than the uniform of the Imperial Officer, I'd argue not much so whilst my TIE Pilot costume is on the backburner I've decided to put together an Imperial Officer costume for a cheap as I possibly can and get it approved by the 501st. It's so nice to have a comfortable costume, hopefully in a week or two we'll be able to do an update of the costume and see where we're at. Follow me...

Budget Lightsabers From TEMU?
มุมมอง 15K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Whilst browsing TEMU for other items I stumbled across the fact that they sell really really budget lightsabers, so because I'm an idiot and spend money on silly things I decided to buy two of the lightsabers and see what they were like. Costume Updates June | TIE Pilot, Han Solo AND MORE!

Just get one from crimson dawn or the pachshop they're cheaper when it come to neopixle I have two

I think it’s cool your making various amounts of costumes keep it up !, when I was 12 I really wanted to have a tie pilot costume and I made one that was, something you could say, then I bought a armor kit that’s 501st approved along with boots belt and compad, the tie pilot is such a versatile costume to make I’m glad I have mine even though I only use it in the winter, it’s still cool to have a 501st approvable costume, hope yours goes well !
I just can't help myself with putting together multiple costumes! Yeah I don't think my TIE will end up being 501st but once it's done I'll look at getting a 501st one done, where's your kit from?
Looking good so far
@@Steoorer thanks!
This is why I like being a welder/fabricator/HGV mechanic with a lot of downtime. I need not expensive lightsabers, I collect scrap and make my own 😂
That is super cool I'd love to have a go at making my own
@@bluesarmory they make a good project, I actually learned how to do pipe welding by making them, I haven't managed anything exceptionally fancy in terms of electronics, just the sort of thing you could stick a broom pole in and whack each other with so far, did get told off over the PA at work once for fighting along the edge of an inspection pit, was fun 😂
Thank you for the insight! I have so much anxiety about joining such a group full of amazing kits but this encourages me to get my kit done and become involved. I felt very discouraged by how difficult it can be to get everything right when on a tight budget but now that I have more wiggle room in my budget I think I can find the courage to get going on this. Cheers from Missouri, USA
@@akaviral5476 I would say reach out to your local clan, I also was so anxious about doing it worried about what kickbacks I would get but everyone’s been so nice and friendly and it’s put me at ease
Yer do a project. Would watch that. Could you put the electronics into a better hilt? Galaxys edge is fab. I didn't build my own saber as it was hard to justify the price to my other half! Ha.
I've thought about getting some electronics and making my own hilt as a project that might be fun. Also i got very lucky in that my lightsaber building experience was a gift from my other half!
Started the project recently and the video is up
I was mid comment when you were bashing the first one but when I heard that swing noise I had to write this instead.

@@MokurohGaming I do like Rey, do I think she was the best written character across the films, no. But as a character I do like her and the impact she’s had on kids and getting them into Star Wars
To be fair it is good to have a female protagonist buttt. I feel like Star Wars is getting a little more… girly. (Too many of this in nowaday Star Wars)
@@Dragonballuca Episodes 1-6, Andor, Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Solo are all male dominated pieces of content, Star Wars is for everyone so if there’s some more female led content I see that as a good thing

I hate how thick galaxy's edge lightsaber are!!!!!!!! They juuuuuust suuuuck
@@jaap1989 I mean they are a bit thick but it depends on the saber
@@bluesarmory those ahsokas you showed they look thiiiiiiiiiick af jajaja
@@jaap1989 they’re really not that bad
@@bluesarmory but not accurate as so many other replicas out there
@@jaap1989 no I agree with that but I made this point in another comment is they're not meant to be super accurate (and expensive) sabers they're meant to be accessible sabers for everyone
I originally got two gold sabers from temu which could be double bladed. They were ok but my issue was that the color never stuck meaning I had to manually change it every time I used it. Eventually they both died and I got a replica of Luke’s lightsaber from Saber Custom. It’s amazing and has so many color and sound options.
yeah I don't think the Temu lightsabers are meant for longevity to be honest
I love your kit bro
@@headshotteam1 thanks so much! I’m really happy with how it turned out
I would like to point you towards padawan outpost they are great
Yeah a few people have mentioned them I will certainly check them out
I live pretty pretty close to WDW so i go to galaxys edge pretty offten which means my lightsaber collection is always growing. I know with what ive spent on my entire collection i couldve bought 2 or so really high end neopixel sabers but i have a preference for official merch and about 90% the time my sabers just sit on display stands. They disney/hasbro sabers are at a good enough quality that id take the quantity over quality of a neopixel
@@jadenmessner219 that’s a really good point I think they’re great for display I wish I lived close to WDW currently a 16 hour flight for me

I've watched a few you tube videos of people buying lightsabers off of Temu and Aliexpress for super cheap, but that's not me. Anyway, there's an online ship called The Custom Saber Shop (based in U.S.), that sells all sorts of parts for people wanting to build their own lightsabers. I've purchased parts to alter some of my existing hilts to make them my own way. You may have a shop like that you can alter your lightsabers or even get the parts to build your own.
Note: I usually purchase from Ultimate Works/The Pach Store - who do a close to movie accurate series of lightsabers.
Temu is a chinese sweatshop.
I'll subscribe to take those temu sabers off your hands

I have 2 lightsabers from Temu. The skinny grey one(with windows in the emitter)6:22. As well as another with a black hilt, smooth swing, and 4 sound fonts. The sound fonts include Luke Epi5, Obi-wan Epi3, Kylo Ren Epi8, and Ahsoka's white sabers from Rebels. I recommend getting the second one it's $27 to $30.
wow that sounds like a really good deal to get smooth swing in something so cheap I'll have to keep a look out for that
@@bluesarmory one thing to note is the smooth swing isn't top of the line.
NSabers and Galaxy sabers have some great budget lightsabers which are MILES better than anything on Temu, Alie express or Amazon. Padawan outpost is another great UK based saber seller

@@UTU1O how long did it take?
@@bluesarmory 16 days.
On Aliexpress I bought a short "pixel" lightsaber that actually had a LED strip inside of the blade. It was around $25 so I had a lot of doubts that it was a "pixel" blade but it surprised me. Now I'm pretty sure its not exactly a neopixel, but it sure does 80% of the job for a fourth of the price of a budget neopixel. The sound was exactly like the sabers featured here and it came in either a grey silver or a black color. If you want a cheap LED saber, try and find that one. Cons are that the soundboard is shit and the blade is pretty short (which may be a pro, to each their own) Edit: It's a 21 inch blade last time I measured it
@@adamalarcon4973 sounds like maybe 1 step up from the ones I bought but I’ll keep and eye out for those, there are some deals to be had on these websites - if you get out The “Frugal Jedi” on TH-cam he’s got some reviews of actual neopixel sabers from TEMU/Aliexpress that are actually legit for around 120 dollars
A 21 inch blade is more of a lightmachete than a lightsaber
@@mh2120 I like the idea of a light machete
Those to are junk. You get what you pay for. Can still get cheaper light sabers then the hasbro fx and disney ones that have more features, not all are junk on Temu or aliexpress, but yes have to watch what you buy
@@dennisrogers6786 yeah they are but I do think if you were buying them for kids to go whack around in the garden then they’re perfect I would have loved these as a kid
The disney and hasbro light sabers are junk, old tech compared to many of the cheaper ones from Aliexpress, etc, and come with sound fonts, colour changing and even some with an SD card, bluthooth or even programmable sound boards, as well as pixel blades, etc and many of these features are on the cheap lightsabers and run rings around the disney ones anyday
@@dennisrogers6786 I wouldn’t say the Disney sabers are junk especially as display pieces which are what mine are they look great. My Savis workshop saber will be my favorite saber always purely because of the experience and memories
@@bluesarmory While sure you get some memories buying them their effects and designs just cannot compare to third party lightsabers, not to mention the Disney lightsabers are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced.
@@finitoackermann yeah I agree that they’re expensive but all lightsabers are if I wanted to get the same Ashoka set from somewhere like Saber Theory you’re looking at like 600+ dollars and I paid 200 ish from the parks the ST ones are gonna be miles better but also it’s a 400 dollar difference so I’d expect that - the Disney Sabers do exactly what they need to do
