You should measure them before saying they are the same size or anything about size. EX40 is 38.5mm and has a 21mm lug width now. This is probably why the Airking felt bigger, because it actually is. Love the crown guards on the Airking.

Did you weigh them yourself or just going off specs?

Looks good to me. Ive been looking at 40mm divers for a while and im glad i held out, and glad i found this one. The white/silver will be the one I'll probably go for. Thanks for the info

I have this exact watch. Love the Wimbledon dial, I am a female and I love it on my wrist. It doesn’t look too big on my wrist, but I do like bigger watches. I love the different views in the sun or the sunburst from the fluted bezel. It’s like I have a diamond cut watch 😊. Cannot go wrong with this watch. And the lume is amazing if you go from the sun to indoors. It activates amazing. 💡

Both are very nice and underrated. I like the blue and red since it has little more pop and flash.

I dig the Air King. It has what the Explorer has, plus some pizzazz.

I have the Silver dial 4520. It is brilliant.

8:06 Yes, exactly! Yet you were making a case for thickness being the thing that matters on your polar explorer 2 video. I think you were trying to convince yourself that the exp2 wasn't too big for you by saying as long as it wasn't too thick (when it's the lug to lug that really matters). Glad you came to your senses! This looks LEAGUES better in terms of fit on your wrist than the explorer 2. This actually looks like it fits well on you while the exp2 with its 50mm lug to lug looks like you are wearing your dad's watch!

8:55 Yeah, you can as long as the lug to lug doesn't exceed 47mm. For example, a speedmaster, which is a 42mm, would look spectacular on your 6.5 inch wrist because it's a relatively short lug to lug at 47mm. It's not the thickness that's the most important measurement for smaller wrists, it's the lug to lug distance. The 50mm lug to lug makes the lugs completely overhang on your wrist as can be seen at 9:04. It's not a good look in my opinion. Think the Titanic sitting atop a small table. That's what this reminds me of with the lugs overhanging. In any case, how has the comfort been even with the lugs overhanging? Any weird hot spots? I guess as long as it's comfortable for you, that's all that really matters in the end but as a viewer trying to help you out, the lugs overhanging is not a good look in my opinion. Just my two cents!

Gold hands and plots -

No question for me, the Explorer is by far the best looking of the two. The best looking watches from Rolex are Submariner Date or without Date black/steel and the Explorer 40 mm.

i enjoyed the review... personally i would f the bracelet off - it's bout the watch-head... if the 12 marker on the bezel woz red instead of no lume or other interest and the second hand's tip woz red to match the logo rather than insipid yellow, then this watch would march strong in the affordable (i can't afford it) market... imo xx

I had this dilemma and chose the AK mk2 over the EP 40, the fact is it’s more of a sports watch like the sub/gmt due to its all new case and crown guards, the mk1 AK was basically a milgauss with a different dial, hands down since getting the AK as my daily I get way more comments and compliments than my sub and sea dweller ever did, I also think its because there way less common, I love the dial and splash of colour also the mk2 dial is now more balanced with the 05 instead of just 5 .. its a gorgeous timepiece

I had a rather ok example of this, love it so much that I sold it and now back on the hunt for a mint 2001-2003 example with full set. SEL and lug holes are the perfect combo imho.... Blew the budget on a panda Daytona tho lol, replenishing the pot right now 🤣🤣

And 100% agree, never liked the Vacheron way of displaying month year since I noticed it on the overseas perpetual calendar when it was released and my AD had one. Shame as it's a great movement that allow it to be a thinner Overseas vs the standard one

I just got mine in Cabo, Mexico last Thursday. My wife and I have shopped for jewelry at this specific location, and for the past 4 years, they had nothing to sell. I always ask the sales manager and sales person if there are any Rolex (non precious metal) for sale and the answer is typically "NO". This time they had several watches (GMT, Skydweller, gold daytona, and a Polar Explorer II, etc). I had the Black Explorer II a few years back, and sold it to upgrade to a black Skydweller. I saw the Polar and just for the sake of pissing off my wife, I tried it on, and was really surprised by the dial and the fit. Apparently since the 2021 update, Rolex shortened the lugs a bit which made it more wearable for me and the matte black hands are really striking. Initially none of the watches mentioned were available, but I got a text the next day that it was available for purchase. Needless to say I purchased it the same day now can wait patiently for my Panda Daytona. I've probably walked into at least 100 Rolex AD's in the past 4-5 years in the US, Europe and Mexico and been laughed at when inquiring about GMT's, Yachtmaster's and Daytona's. Pretty content right now and also shocked that my wife was ok with the purchase. Onto the next 3 year wait!! LOL

The dial is even better in person than in the marketing material and in pictures/videos. It’s a great addition to the lineup.
