My first video was from breaking the bike in, this one was finally getting a feel for the bike. Map 2 was great, torquey, handling is great so far.

The GAs GAS Side of the ktm company needs to bring out a 2stroke 500 so many people miss those bikes

Got my bike on Monday. Took it apart on Tuesday and greased the linkage, swing arm and steering stem. Apparently KTM's grease budget is even less than Yamaha's!! I did 4-10 minute heat/cool cycles in the shop and even revving it out it seemed awful rich. Took it to Glen Helen today and it took an entire lap before it cleaned out but after that it ran like a scalded cat. Damn, that engine is so nice. Ran it in map 1 for the first couple practice motos then into map 2 for the 3rd. What a difference!! Suspension is stiff but like all KTMs they start that way and then break in. Had to raise the shifter a notch and may have to go another one. Played with clickers but still at almost full soft clicks out to try and help the break in. Totaled 1.2 hours on the track. Can't wait to get the suspension fully broken in. So far, impressed.
Can’t wait to get one, I’m a 2 stroke guy at heart but I’ve been on a 250f/450 for years and when I ever I ride my 250 smoke I struggle to keep up the speed and get tired fast. Seems like the 300 will bridge the gap for me, if not it will at least be a lot of fun 😂

When you shut your 300 off does it give out a last burp? My 250 xc’s doesn’t do it but if I am on the throttle on my 300 and then slow down and turn it off to wait it’s almost like it back fires
yes, not every time but it does do it sometimes it pushes out a backfire type burp

Did you ever notice after a long straight when you chop the throttle and get back in it you get a slight ping or break up type sound for a second? Mine almost seems to lean out at the top of the rpm range and after a long pull of you let off and get back in it. Trying to get a feel for if I need to be looking for something wrong.
i haven’t noticed anything like that! I did notice the rev limiter sounds almost like it cuts in and out but that’s normal

So refreshing to hear! I was expecting you to lug it around keeping it below 1500 rpms like everyone else with 300 videos. Those guys don't know what they're missing.
I was mainly trying to get a good video of the bike sound! this thing sounds throaty and crisp! I noticed the chest mount captures less wind noise and more bike noise. The rev limiter on this thing sounds so good too!
Waiting for mine to get to the dealer. Please post your observed differences between map 1 and map 2.
Someone else commented their experience between the two maps on this video, i unfortunately forgot to try map 1 i’ve only tried map 2!
I can chime in on this. White map is major difference... I personally did not like it because it seems so lethargic and almost like it needs"cleaned out".
That's a killer track. I bet it's even better when it's dried out some. I'm jealous of you guys that are starting to get your 300SX. Mine hasn't come in yet but my deposit is down. The only thing that would have made this video better is if you would have talked about the bike at the end. How's the motor? How does it pull? What gear are you in most of the time? How's the suspension? How is map 1 vs map 2? Etc..... Help us that don't have ours yet live through you LOL
Motor is strong, it pulls through low mid and top end RPM, i’m typically in 3rd most places it’s a solid gear. The suspension is stiff still so for break in i’ve turned all compression/rebound 2 clicks softer to help with the stiffness. i haven’t tried map 1 yet the bike came set in map 2 and i haven’t changed it yet it’s very solid. This is my favorite bike purchase out of the 9 bikes i’ve had in my life. it’s so much fun

I got mine recently and the maps have a very different feel and both are amazing. Like K-money said the bike pulls through all the ranges much like a 4 stroke but still has a powerband like a two stroke that pulls very hard when it comes on. Map 1 (white) limits that massive surge of power and makes it more linear and steady pulling. Map 2 (green) comes on hard and more aggressive. I like to drop into map 1 once I get tired and focus on being smooth. I love the bike and hope you do to when you get.

@@armoredsheep2555, Thanks for explaining the power delivery in both maps. Waiting on mine to get to the dealer. Couple questions...Map 1 would be more 4 stroke-esq? When in Map 2, does it take away any of the rideability compared to Map 1?
That track is groomed to perfection. New bike sounds great.
What do you think of the bike? What bike did you have before the 300?
It’s very fun, a bit different than what i’m used to. I’d been riding my sisters YZ125 this summer and my dads FC450 so that’s what i’d been used to. last year i had a 2018 YZ450 and that was a good bike. I wanted to get back in the 2 stroke game and this bike came out this spring and i wanted it. i was very impressed with power delivery in the low end it was better than most two strokes i’ve ever ridden. and mid RPM was really strong. Bike handled incredibly and felt very planted in corners

@@davidgrunklee8407 suspension is hard to tell just yet because it’s so stiff. i have turned the compression and rebound softer 2 clicks to try to help with this for the break in period, and it seems to be reacting and settling well. It feels very planted in corners, and even over bumps already it feels like it tracks well. Very impressed with this bike overall.
