This is a quick overnighter exploring Merchants Millpond and some of Lassiter Swamp at Merchants Millpond State Park NC. Lots of geese, some beaver, lilies, duckweed, tupelo gums and of course cypress trees and Spanish moss. Not many turtles and no gators this time presumably due to the lack of direct sunlight. This trip started at the Murfreesboro boat ramp on the Meherrin River and ended at Shoup's Landing in Winton NC on the Chowan River. The run is almost 15 miles and took us around 6 hours to complete. We had a 10-12mph head wind (NE) most of the day until we hit the Chowan and started heading South.
